Divorce is not due to hardness of hearts this is a error in understanding

Divorce is due to the woman's error not the man, the woman has laid with a man before she married her husband

Ok so here's the thing God divorced Israel for fornication not adultery Israel was more justified than Judah because Israel returned

Jeremiah 3:8 And I saw when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away and given her a bill of divorce. This is the same term for adultery as that used in the commandment, Thou shalt not commit adultery. Can you help me understand that point you are making because I don't see it in the text.

@@TheConqueringTruth Before I do that let me help you to understand the verse you just brought up If you first start at Jer.3 verse 1 God is telling us that he put Israel away, she went to another then returned to him So now that she has returned to him she is Backsliding and committing adultery by doing the things he had put her away for Jer.3:8 Backsliding Israel is more justified than Judah because even though she's leaving, she had returned to him Jer.3:11 He then tells her because she has gone off committing adultery to returned because she is married to him Jer.3:14

@@TheConqueringTruth To understand Jer.3 verses 1 and 2 you'd have to read Deut.24 verses 1 to 4 to understand that God took Israel back He took Israel back after divorcing her she gets defiled then returns polluting the land or causing it to sin

Yes, you are making our argument for us. God is explaining how Israel was divorced and returned and then returned to her harlotry, and then would not return so if he were to take her back the land would be defiled. So this is like many other places in scripture (like right after Adam and Eve sin and are cursed) that God points toward how he is going to solve the problem. God is not taking Israel back as a nation. This is why when God says return to me for I will take one of a city and two of a family and bring you to Zion. This is pointing forward to true Israel, not national Israel. This is why when God speaks about the New Covenant in Jeremiah 31, he says this will be different than when he made the covenant with them though he was married to them.. And then when he quotes this in Hebrews he says, though I did not regard them. God really did divorce and forsake unbelieving Israel and when he came to Judah they rejected him and killed him. And his divorce was righteous.
