I'm not from a target school.is it means I can't become a wall street investment banker?😢
@PeterSu2 ай бұрын
Definitely harder but it can be potentially doable if you boost on GPA, finance internships, and networking. If you're at a non target school look up alumni at banks to see their path to banking (internships etc.) and email them for an informational interview to ask about their career path to banking.

Another great video! Your channel’s really helped me in my journey at uni, was able to land my first IB internship in winter 2025 (live in Australia) in part thanks to your guidance. A video on how you went about networking would be great if you have the time, keep up the awesome work! You’re helping a lot more people than you know with your channel.

Hey - super happy to hear it helped you get the winter internship - good work! Any question(s) in particular about networking? I'll see what I can do. I actually go over my networking playbook step-by-step in my banking recruiting course (templates, all that jazz). If you think it could help, I actually just launched it this week: www.petersu.com/ibb. Hope all's well!

Hey peter, My major is finance I just completed my 1st semester so my question is when should I start looking for finance internships.
@lukesammann195923 күн бұрын
I come from a non target for finance but still a good school. Real estate Private equity internship, 3.9 gpa, solid networking, and club leadership position. Chances?

I have 2 previous internships, 1 accounting, 1 finance/FP&A, and have an upcoming risk management/advisory internship at KPMG this summer. At a non target, well-known state school and GPA is 4.0 do you think I should target middle market or try both bulge bracket? Only thing I’m worried about is not having a directly correlated IB or PE internship.
@PeterSu2 ай бұрын
Good work with the 4.0 all the accounting internships plus the incoming KPMG internship. Right your profile looks like a hardcore accounting profile. I'd suggest networking a lot in December to find internal champions at your target banks to increase your chances of getting 1st rounds. If you have bandwidth, finding a boutique bank internship for say 5 to 10 hours a week to get that on your resume before Jan submissions could help a lot to become more of a "finance" profile. That plus any banking case comps. Keep up the good work!

Hi peter, I have an interview with goldman sachs on this coming tuesday and im wondering if as an ex-employee you have any advice for me? Its my first interview ever and is of course a massive job opportunity, so im trying to get prepared as best as possible.
@PeterSu2 ай бұрын
Nice - try to do 1 to 3 mock interviews with banker friends and adjust for their feedback and do a second round mock if possible to make sure you filled in holes from the first time. Also make sure you're comfortable with your TMAY and Why GS answer. GL!

SIR about which gpa ur are talking bachelor degree gpa or master gpa which they see
@PeterSu2 ай бұрын
I was referring to the undergrad GPA but for masters they may look at that and then your undergrad GPA as well if your grad school does GPA disclosure.

Mr.Peter, I am going to select my bachelor's degree, and I want to know that clearly, What is the best degree to get into investment banking? I mean, what kind of major has a better opportunity than others to get into investment banking? Is it a bachelor's degree in finance or economics or STEM degrees? Someone says STEM degrees have a better opportunity. Someone says finance degree has a better opportunity Stuff like that. I want to know that clearly I want to work at investment banking division at Wall Street Investment Bank. So, what is the best major to do?
@PeterSu2 ай бұрын
I talked about this in that other short. For finance jobs Business/Finance is good. For CS jobs STEM CS is good. They can still be good for finance too if you have finance internships and a high GPA. My suggestion would be to look up bankers from your University on linkedin and see what they majored in and that will also give you a sense of who you can reach out to to ask them for advice on their career path to banking from your specific school.
@ravinduakalanka68342 ай бұрын
@PeterSu well I hope to do an economics major or a finance major but somebody says STEM are better its a big problem for me so I asked you is there a better opportunity to a stem degree holder than a eco/finance holder when being a investment banker in investment banking division(M&A,IPO stuff like that)?
