I’m starting graduate school this fall and I’m working my way through your videos on this channel, and I’m loving them! I took this spring semester off and I worry about getting back into the swing of things again. But that’s great advice to set “job” hours for myself!

I graduated from Penn State in 2017 with a Bachelor's in IST. It was fun, just be glad you only have to use Canvas for your courses. I had to deal with 2 Course Management Systems during my time at Penn State.

Lol that's terrible. My undergrad had Smartsite, and then my sophomore year switched to canvas. During the switch though, several professors still used Smartsite, but then the makers of Smartsite vanished and the site went down during the last 3 weeks of the term... it was such a mess! I'm glad Canvas seems to work

@@oliviasimonephd Canvas had a rocky start with everyone. From what I heard at the beginning, some courses weren't recording grades correctly, and submitted assignments went missing in a few cases. I didn't get to fully use it until the last year of my undergrad (I think I had one online class about Databases during my third year on Canvas), which during that time it worked well! I had a few professors who still used Angel when Penn State was making the switch, guess they we're just used to the old way. One of them retired the same year I graduated, and they never used Canvas. I know the University switched over completely that following year.

Angel was HORRIBLE! My first semester at PSU was the last semester they were allowing professors to use it. Thankfully I only had to endure 1 course there.

Sounds like your orientation went really well. ☺️ I'm about to enter my fourth year of a double degree program that will give me a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Crandall University in Moncton, New Brunswick (Canada) and a Bachelor of Theology from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia (Canada). Orientation for us is Sept. 3rd to the 8th and our school's student government has been hard at work planning it. One of the things they've advertised in hot air balloon "rides". I'm going to get some awesome footage from the week.

Oh wow that's a lot! hot air balloon rides sound awesome! My sister's school just had a carnival - rides and all for them. I've never had a school go all out like that so it's cool to know that there's several of them that do!

Olivia's Grad Life It's the first year the Student Association has done hot air balloons. Normally the events from Monday to Friday are small scale and Saturday is the big one with our Mystery Bus Tour. Students pay $20 to get on a bus and they have no idea where or what will happen. So far we've gone to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and further along in New Brunswick to get up to some pretty fun stuff. This year should be no exception.

Olivia's Grad Life so basically I want to be there for athletes to show them that they can be both a Christian and a athlete. A sports chaplain basically prays and is always there for them spiritually. Not yet but I want to possibly work for a college and be there chaplain for sports.

In your opinion, do you think the on campus experience has helped you vs if you did an online grad school program?

I do think it has helped! It makes this chapter in life a lot better actually getting to know your peers and learn from them by working side by side. Edit -being on campus has also been so great in cultivating relationships with faculty through research labs, office hours, and general college events.
