We've been feeding a groundhog in our backyard. He has gone into hibernation I presume under our backyard shed. He absolutely loved eating carrots and corn on the cob. We did okay with apples, and less success with oranges. We gave up on blueberries and watermelon. I can't wait for February when he is supposed to come out of hibernation.

I have an adolescent Groundhog that's known me since it was born. It's the only one that stuck around which has proven useful, as I know if a strange one comes around, they won't touch the snacks it's used to with me. But mine won't eat apple slices, banana slices, (store bought) turnip greens, lettuce, not always broccoli, baby spinach leaves, yes. Any suggestions?

Why do you have intrusive background "music" while a narrator is speaking?? That makes no sense.

Love these guys I feed them daily mostly carrots because they seem to favor them.I wonder if I am spoiling them though because I gave them clean,fresh celery today and was met with a turn down lol also he or she actually went into my yard and looked at my back door 😅

As far as trapping them, carrots and green apples off the apple tree in my backyard works every time. They eat all kinds of greenies in the yard, tree leaves, vine leaves, grass, etc.

I can’t believe a ground hog walked up to me where I worked. I tried to place pistachios on the ground next to him or her? It wasn’t interested. Thanks for this video

moved to house backing up to woods in nashville area. old wooden gazebo has a ground hog living under it. Was gonna get rid of him but now ask why? he doesnt come by the house , and apparently helps with pests. hes cute. kids like to watch him through the window. If we go anywhere near there he ducks away and doesnt bother anyone. now moles.... Thats a problem!

I had 5 groundhogs under my back deck. They haven’t really bothered anything and I check for holes daily. Is it safe to keep them as they are or should I call someone?

I am a groundhog. I was born on Feb 2. And I love vegetables, the more the better! I never eat meat. I dont eat insects either but that is insignificant,, Here's to the groundhog diet!

They also love cat food and steal much of the ferals food in the colony I care for. The groundhogs fight viciously with each other over the food and it scares the cats. 😂

Just an FYI, many of the pictures in this video are not of groundhogs, they are of other marmots. They generally live solitary lives except for mating.
ADD to all of that what my sister “Beverly” tosses out to “FatBoy” and WOW, best fed animal on the planet! ! !

My groundhog family will eat any vegetable or fruit I toss close to the shed and they keep the mouse population down, So does the occasional Opossum.

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 so groundhogs eat Lettuce, Greene veggies, & corn & beans... hmmmm. Then WHY are they So FAT ??? Then humans are told to eat all that, & be healthy. So if all they eat makes them healthy, then why are they so FAT??? I'm a human. I eat that way, too, but for humans, such a diet should make you THIN!!!!!!
@decyattysyachpchyol Жыл бұрын
I presume you're joking, but considering a grown groundhog is about 10-12 lbs and they eat a pound a day, that's roughly 1/10 their body weight in food every day. If a 200-lb person ate 20 lbs (or about 9 kgs) of vegetables every day and could keep it all down to digest, they would probably not lose weight, especially if a fair amount of it was corn. A human who ate 9 kgs of spinach alone, which is 23g per 100g, would consume 0.23 x 9000 g = 2070 kilocalories, enough to maintain sedentary women as overweight. Looks like a sedentary 200-lb man probably would lose a little idk never calculated tdee for men. Other vegetables like beans and corn are more calorie dense than that, 14.8x and 3.7x, respectively. Humans just can't fit enough vegetables in our stomachs to get fat off them alone. Of course, people eat more than leafy greens, so including processed grains like bread rice, corn meal, and pasta, along with more energy dense plants like avocados and nuts, and extracted oils, we can maintain overweight even on a vegetarian diet. Also, groundhogs can digest grass that humans can't, and they get quite chunky by winter, which they need because they barely eat all winter and get thinner by spring.
