What happened BETWEEN the TV Stories? │ Doctor Who Canon Catchup

I feel like this 6 month jump really robbed us of the proper usual trajectory of first trip to the past, first trip to the future moments. It’s just a staple and it’s a shame they glossed over these adventures.

Yes it does feel like they sped run the whole thing. Which as well as being a shame for not seeing Ruby get used to traveling in the TARDIS it also means all the info about the Doctor and who he is, was info dumped in the first ep, where as with Eccleston you gradually found it out over the season. I feel that approach would have been better for new viewers.

The whole 6 months thing felt like a cheap ploy to quickly skip over all those tricky relationship building moments and have the Doctor and Ruby be best friends immediately to make up for the lackluster episode count/runtimes. I’m glad there’s some easy room for Big Finish adventures or whatnot but they always find room anyway, I wish RTD would’ve prioritized their relationship more.

Yeah I wasn’t keen on it where it was. If a jump like that had happened mid-season I’d have probably quite liked it. But it was too early for a jump like that.

I personally buy the theory that Rogue was originally the second episode but then it was swapped with The Devil’s Chord to coincide with Eurovision.

Season 1 is well under way? It's over and done with, as you know. Did you write or film this awhile back? The Butterfly Effect Compensator works exactly the same as all Who gagdets do....when the plot requires it. 🙂 Cool rundown and that 6 months allows for plenty of off-screen adventures for the side canon to mine. That and before the Doctor meets Ruby are ripe for the picking, along with between Empire Of Death and next Xmas.

I know there were off screen adventures but waiting 6 months to take Ruby to an alien planet isn’t too far off as in the whole of Series 1 Rose and the Doctor didn’t go to a different planet for a main adventure once.

Well, they did reference having been to alien planets in episodes. In particular I think they lost off a load of places they have been in the episode Boom Town.

I think a Thirteenth Doctor version of this video will be more interesting next year, when the audios come out. The problem with the Fifteenth Doctor is that there isn't a lot of expanded media to fit into a timeline yet.

I think you need to move The Devil's Chord later on the timeline not only cause there's definitely no way they didn't vist a alien planet in 6 months but Ruby said in 73 yards she barely knows The Doctor and she wouldn't say that if tgey travelled 6 months together

I agree it’s nuts that they wouldn’t have visited an alien planet in 6 months of traveling but broadcast order is always taken as the order things happen in usually, not sure I can bring myself to break that. If I did it would have to go before Dot and Bubble though, because that’s where they start really recognizing Susan Twist.

@@CulturePhilter Maybe usually but not always Broadcast is right but for this time there's no way that's right also you can put it after Dot cause they don't see Twist in Devil's Chord so no problem there. Plus maestro says the one who waits is nearly here sounds like something you say just before the finale

The free comic book day one is, as the name implies, free and that includes the digital version I believe. Not sure WHERE from though as I got it as part of a humble bundle thing. Doctor who magazine you can buy issues online. I subscribe via Pocketmags iOS app. And future Titan comics you can buy and get on kindle. Or wait until they are collected in Trade Paperback form.
