Your Ausprache is good. "S" before "T" or "P" is pronounced like "sh" (except in the Hamburg dialekt, but even they don't do it anymore). For the "G" at the end of words like "günstig", it can be pronounced like "g" or like "sh", both are correct.

I’m talking about situations where you’re NOT talking to someone tho hahaha! Because all of the situations I listed are situations where people are minding their own business and still being stared at. Making eye contact while talking is 100% fine! It’s the respectful thing to do! But just randomly staring at someone you don’t know might make them feel a lil uncomfortable 😂

It's kind of the same. Try looking into their eyes when they stare. Most people should blink or give you a warm look and look away. That's kind of a greeting, an acknowledgment. She makes 2.200 a month Spending 200 on a car (probably leasing) is way out of her budget Also her mobile plan is outrageously expensive And nevermind mixing debt with insurance (which doesnt make sense) and having that be 300 bucks on her budget. What? 200€ a month over 5 years is 12k€. I pay 700/ year for insurance/tax which leaves 8.5k. You'll have some other expenses like getting it through TüV and minor repairs, so that means 200€/month gets you an old used car that probably has over 100k km run, when you buy it, and sells for roughly nothing after 5 years. Do you even adult, bro?

 @Benjamin-xv9le Oh no 100k km... My wifes 20+ year old car still running at 220k km and will run for another 300k Costing way less than 200 a month. Total cost for 18 years as of now is 68,00 EUR a Month and falling even considering repairs and HU/AU because its not called TÜV fyi. Your are financially illiterate if you think buying a car at 100k km is an issue. I got acutally 4 and a half cars (one in restauration) here but please educate me further on how bad cars with 100k+ km are. Currently having cars in range from 42k-250k (450k for the project one) i cannot fathom what bull crap you are stating here. Also even thinking of selling a car that is totally fine to for years and considering taking the loss... Your issue is, 100k cars are not sexy, which is financial illiteracy exactly like the girl we saw in the clip.

Here's my attempt at a slightly more detailed explanation for the Weizen/Korn conundrum: "Weizen" is colloquially used as shorthand for "Weizenbier" (E.g. "plane" for "airplane"), as is Korn for Kornbrand. Both of these are compound nouns, and the final part of compound nouns dictate the article used for those. the wheat = Der Weizen the beer = Das Bier the wheat beer = Das Weizenbier Since the article is defined by the last compound of the compound noun, "Weizenbier" uses the neutral article ("das"), like "Bier". the grain = Das Korn the spirit = Der Brand the grain spirit = Der Kornbrand Again, since "brand" is the final compound of "Kornbrand", "Kornbrand" uses the mascule article ("der"), like "Brand" would. So the seemingly unintuitive choice of articles for the colloquially used "Weizen" and "Korn" for "Weizenbier" and "Kornbrand" just follows that of their respective unabridged versions. Hope that helps!

Austrian here, people usually do not cross during red. UNLESS it's in the middle of the night, an extremely deserted one with a badly programmed rhythm (basically it will be red while cars are like a kilometer away on both sides and green when they arrive) or that one stupid place where they forgot to put a button to trigger green for pedestrians (unless someone is on the other side it will literally never turn green). But at any busy spots? No, and it's literally life threatening to do so!

Ok so that living expenses part is pretty flawed. - My phone bill is 10€ a month and you only have a 100€ monthly bill if you have a rather expensive contract PLUS a phone that you don't pay for upfront. So you can easily cut that in half. - If you're paying 850€/month for rent, you probably live in an urban area where you don't need a car. Sell that car and get yourself a Deutschlandticket or a bike for another 300€ monthly savings - Avoid taking on loans wherever possible. As a rule of thumb, if you don't need something, don't buy it with money you don't have. - There are a ton of insurance policies that you don't need. Check to see if they actually cover what you want them to and whether or not you might just be better off putting that money into savings instead. GG EZ savings of like 400€ a month. If you manage to get a 200€ raise on your salary, you might even be able to afford a single bedroom in Frankfurt.

Your comment on the weather James! Bro you are Germanified!!!! - Back in the 70s there was a true saying here on the "Lower Rhine"! There are only 3 seasons: warm rain; cold rain; frozen rain! And in July or August it will be dry and hot for three weeks! - When the outside temperature reached 28°C in May, there was a state-mandated heat-free period for ALL schools! In the last 14 years [yes, this year too, on an annual average, it is already hotter than in 2023!] it has become hotter and hotter in the following year! This year you don't feel that! Because of all the rain, caused by the early melting of snow in the Alps and the resulting floods on the way to me (the Rhine flows here, via the Netherlands, into the North Sea!), a lot of water has to evaporate! Which creates an almost permanently closed cloud cover and doesn't let the sun's rays pass through. This leads to heavy rainfall, leads to massive evaporation, to rainfall, to evaporation, to...! This keeps temperatures, both perceived and real (on the ground where we humans live), below 25°C to 30°C! It's a fact that these have been over 30°C again since May!! :-( :-( :-( - For Germany, a healthy average annual temperature is 8.9°C or lower! In the last 14 years this has been over 10°C, in the last few years it has been over 11°C! What should actually make us understand that we have overcome the 1.5°C hurdle a long time ago...! :-( :-( :-( -

Its like an unspoken rule that you do not cross red lights when children are present (because you dont wanna be a bad example or meet the judgy look of the parents) BUT any time there are no cars (and no Children of course) I will cross red lights. At day where you were at the field we mean the crops on the fields, but at night your at the Bar and their you mean Weizen as a whitebeer and your corn is a Schnaps. And for these the same words gets other article. In the morning crops at the Bar drinks. Same Words different article different meaning. It Depends on what you want where you are.

As a German i can tell you the rules about crossing the Street. Rule 1. You can allways cross the street Rule 2 unless there are a lot of Cars driving. Rule 3 unless theres a policeofficer in front of you Rule 4 unless theres someone who wants to wait for the light Rule 5 unless theres a child. If theres a child you have to wait until the light turns green. Rule 6 ignore rule 2-5 if you have to Catch your train/ Bus.

1:45 people crossing against the red depends heavily on the city you are in. Also, the fine is only 5€ for pedestrians and 10€ if it causes an accident. Crossing in the middle of the road on the other hand is completely legal in Germany, no jaywalking laws here. There are some restrictions if there is heavy or fast traffic. The buffer between a Ped-X-ing / traffic light and the "middle of the road" is also only between 5 meters (15 feet) in most cases.

@8:10 an explaination of the joke: Stramm can not only been used in the context of being trained, it can also and will more often be used in the context of being drunk. so what he did was a double meaning context where he shows that he is drinking, implying that he is "training" every day by drinking, kind of training his liver and also stating that he makes good money, saying that he can drink every day, enjoy life to the fullest and also have a good job and good money. kind of borderline alcoholic but still in control of it. He practically brags that he just enjoys his life more than you. Thanks for your attention, I hope it gave some insight into german humor. it is subtile, complex and often very open for interpretation.

The girl said "eye contact while talking to people", I think, and that's rather true, when we talk to people, we make eye contact. Avoiding eye contact is such a situation would be creepy, wouldn't it? Don't people look at each other when they talk, in the USA? The one with Weizen and Korn: it's correct to say "der Weizen" (wheat) and "das Korn" (barley), but in the evening it's "das Weizen(bier)" and "der Korn" (the liquor). I don't spend € 350 on food! Maybe she goes to the restaurant every day, but if you cook at home, you can easily get along with half of that sum. People who make € 2K + per month really can't come and complain that they can't live with it. Maybe not buy every pair of shoes they see, or clothes they find cool and then never wear anyway? I love the cool weather, too. Not necessarily when it rains 24/7, though. But isn't the smell just before the rain lovely? And yes, dress in layers, you can always add or remove a layer when necessary. :)

@Flo-vn9ty
@Flo-vn9ty 2 ай бұрын

iirc, there was a study about the "German stare". There is a difference in eye contact length between German culture and other, for like a second or even a fraction of it. But even that small duration is enough to make those that are not used to it uncomfortable. Germans just grow up with this and therefore don't even notice it.
@Vivi-pr3wr

"Staring" is more of a sign of showing respect to someone in a conversation. When I'm talking to someone, I want them to look at me and not be distracted by other things because that's rude.

The eye contact thing is based on when you just look around it feels like you don't really pay attention to the person you're talking to. In German schools you're also taught to look at your classmates when holding a presentation. Not only anywhere in the room. Tbh I do that too but mostly to keep my ADD brain to stop thinking about everything else 😂 Having eye contact while being in the train or similar situations, i just stare around and sometimes I realize I'm staring in a direction where other people are. I guess some might think I'm staring at them while my brain is just afk 😂

In the morning, 'Der Weizen / Das Korn' just means wheat crops, in the morning you are probably still sober. But at night 'Das Weizen / Der Korn' means wheat beer and hard alcohol made from crops, so yes it depends on the situation and probably the people around you as well
