Something like this happened at the Mclaren NB drive last weekend too (wondered if we'd see you out there at that). Truck hit a mclaren in our group at 3mph and broke a light, and a tiny bit of body damage. Truck guy was offering to pay outta pocket but I don't think he fully understood the type of bill that'd be generated by the impact.

Been there & done that. Not in an expensive car or having done it myself, but same thing happened to my roommate back in college and I was the passenger in his truck. Somebody in front of us starts to go on a right turn from a stop sign so my roommate and I look to the left for oncoming traffic while he's moving up to the stop sign, only to have the dumb lady slam on her brakes halfway out into the street for no reason and my roommate rear ends her. Ever since then, I always keep an eye on the car in front of me and wait until they're finally gone before I move up and start looking for oncoming traffic. Lots of idiots driving, and watching & waiting for people to actually leave an intersection has saved me countless times or I could've hit the person if I didn't wait an extra few seconds.

Man… that guesstimate is probably right taking it to any shop… Even though you can pick up that trim piece around the light for $500 in perfect condition (but used), that light for $1800, and touch up that body work for less than $1000. How do I know? Just looked up the part numbers and found them from parted out cars, and the paint fix can be done by any reputable paint for less than $1000 considering how minor it is. I always find it fascinating how expensive these things are going to a shop versus DIY. One will be $20,000 and the other would be $4,000 max.

Same thing happened to me around when I first started driving. The lady in front of me apologized and admitted fault. There was no damage... I wasn't even driving my car, but I never crept again without checking to make sure the car in front of me didn't spontaneously stop and has cleared the intersection.

at least now you can drive it and not worry as much as if it was brand new i remember the first time i was in my new cx-9 and the guy in front of me did the same thing and i was looking to the left to see if someone is coming and i push his car just a little bit it broke my heart the car at the time had only 900 miles on the oddo and had 2 accidents after that didnt hurt near that, note : some of them were so bad the whole front end needed to be changed but the small crack in the pumper in the first time had crushed my heart didnt drive for 3 weeks after that.

That's not an accident, it's a scuff your detailer should easily buff out all the body damages but the light assembly and it's bezel are needing replacement because it's a McLaren and crazy glue hue holding them together is just frowned upon in the Pebble Beach circle. Now if it was a Hyundai, spot putty, Gorilla Glue and a rattle can spray paint after some buffing and sanding it'd be fixed fine within the hour of it happening and you wouldn't feel so heartbroken with your little oopsey.

I was following a guy out of a parking lot and he was going super slow, and a truck on the street had his blinker on so I assumed he was turning in where me and the other guy were leaving. Well, I was wrong. I was so fixated on the slow exit that the guy in front of me was doing that I just followed him out and the guy in the truck moved right in front of me.
