Having Rottweilers for over 3 decades myself, this is something you never want to happen but often does. It's pack dynamics when one dog is showing weakness or getting older and another is vying for alpha. I currently have mom, and 2 daughters from 2 different litters. Mom is turning 10 and slowing down and we had the first fight that landed mom in the ER. Now we can't let the 3 together anymore. Only in pairs, 2 sisters and mom and youngest daughter. This is not your fault, and not June's or Fluffy's fault, it's natural and more natural in intact dogs. All the girls are great with other dogs still. Good luck and thanks for sharing. It's a good teaching moment for people who live with packs also.

Will always have love for what you have shared with us with your beautiful family , your dogs and your channel. Please remember there is more love out here for you with your thousands of followers , than any tiny minority with hate in their hearts.

Hi Colin. I haven’t been on your rotty ranch for a while but I tuned I. Today 2/24 and I’m saddened by your vlog. You’re obviously distraught about what’s happened but sometimes these things happen. You will always get a few vocal haters but don’t let them get to you. You’re doing a great job. Yes your life is evolving with Sam and Cozi and all your other projects but it seems to bother you that you can’t spend the same amount of time with your fur babies. Keep doing what you’re doing snd I hope and pray the dogs will be ok eventually. All the best. From Oz 😊

I feel your pain my friend. You have been doing a great job. I went through the same thing with my 3 Rotties. I had my Mama Fozi (95 lbs) and her two pups, a male Brutus aka Big (160lb) and our female Runt Gretchen (75lbs) who was a twin in one sack. Fozi who was my spoiled Queen and always got all the attention before the pups started to become jealous of her daughter Gretchen bc she was smaller and more approachable. Fozi started to nudge Gretchen and then it started. Fozi was very docile but Gretchen felt threatened and turned out to decide to assert her Alpha side. Things would never be the same. Keeping them separated was heartbreaking and very hard but we were all family. They were my children my life, just like your family. This stuff just happens, we can never predict it. They were all well trained and brought up together. My male was neutered and never got involved with the fighting and I would separate him right away if anything broke out but after a couple of bad altercations between Mama and Gretchen, the female rivalry was on; so I had to keep the females separated but I could put them both together with the male with no problems. So I understand what you are going through. They were all amazing wonderful dogs individually and great with people. I would never give them up but it was very hard and difficult to keep rotating them so it's fair for everyone sharing all the love. I know your heart is broken but you are a great person, dog dad, husband and daddy. I know I did the best I could for my pack and I know you will too. Unfortunately that happy single unit family may never be only one again but thanks to fences, they can still be together at times. I know you will find the right solutions to keep everyone safe and warm. A Rotti addition to the house may be in your future house extension plans. Just know you have friends here that love all of you and understand. I've been there. You hope it's never going to happen but although we try to be the Alpha of our packs, animal instinct can't be ignored. You will still have your pack of friends and fans. Don't let the haters bring you down. Wishing you and your family love and luck in everything you do. My pack is gone now and there's not a day that I don't miss my babies and just the thought of them brings immediate tears to my eyes. I like to believe that they're still right beside me or they'll be right there waiting for me the last time I close my eyes and we'll be together for eternity.

I raised my kids with German Shepherds (another strong breed). Both the kids and the dogs had boundaries. Unfortunately, when my daughter was a baby, one of the dogs snapped at me. He was rehomed within a few days to a guard dog company for training. He did live on to a happy life in service, but he just wasn't a family dog unless he had more specialty training I couldn't provide with 2 small children. Otherwise, strong breeds can be the best companions and love their families so much! I now have a Rottie mix girl who has won my heart, and is the best companion in my retirement!

I have enjoyed your Rotti videos and your farming videos. Through the year I have learned a lot and honestly you’re a great dog parent, and with any parent with kids or fur kids things will happen and how you handle it is the biggest part. Putting yourself and family out here will bring negativity unfortunately but you have more people with you than against you. Keep the faith and move on and we will be with you guys. I have a little Maltese named Fluffy and a Rotti/lab, there are times when Fluffy at 5lbs will go at my Rotti if she takes a toy, although they live in peace most of the time I always supervise and if we leave them in the house Fluffy stays upstairs and Bella the Rotti down stairs. We all do what we have to as good parents.

Yes, Collin it was serious and can’t be let go. It is escalating and will continue if something doesn’t change. June wants to be top dog. As a mom, I hate seeing you so torn up. As a mom and grandma, I worry about Cozy,s safety. I don’t think that they would attack her, but what if a dog fight broke out when she was near by? Not to mention you and Sahm. As she becomes more mobile, she’ll be hard to watch her every move. I think you have to make some serious decisions about June. Keeping them separated probably isn’t sustainable and might make the aggression worse towards each other. It might be a good idea to neuter June. I love Rotties and have one so I know that there is a belief that neutering makes them more susceptible to cancer but it is a better option than euthanasia if he becomes even more aggressive. It does calm the aggression in most cases but not necessarily all of it. I am saying this out of love and concern and not with any judgment. Dogs will be dogs. You have given them an amazing life. Your love is so obvious. Your pain is breaking my heart. You have some tough decisions to make and I know you will make the right ones because you are thoughtful and caring. Love to you and your beautiful family.

Colin I so understand. I have a small rescue sanctuary with mostly rottis and mixes. Took a PB boy who was well trained but not dog socialized. Only gets a along with 3 other subdued mutts. Kenneled and rotated 6 times a day. I have broken up a few fights when he first came. He has been better through the kennel seeing the others but no way will he be part of the pack. I live with it. I am stressed but it is what it is. I am very dog savvy and I keep the rest of 13 who all are together except for feeding. I have a hand taser at all times and noise is enough to break any heightened excitement that could lead to directed aggression. I have 3 I have to watch closely. You are doing the right thing. Been in rescue for 22 years and I have learned that all dogs get along with all dogs just like people. Bless you.

Take you time with your personal life. And enjoy your baby.. Dont let the comment section bother you, just remember alot of folks are opinionated, and usually from jealousy. I would get the 2 nuetered.. and slowly let them together one on one.. maybe with the insta gators on a leash... but neutering would help alot.. and the old e collar..but in the end. fluffy and june may never be able to get along. This is why i prefer females. but honestly they are the same way.. just dont seem to be as aggressive about the alpha thing as males

You are not just the caretaker, you are the Pack leader. As such you must establish and enforce rules. Punishment can be as simple as isolating a dog, muzzling him/her and applying a short stimulating punch to their chest while verbalizing a desired behavior command. That way they know that your command is sacrosanct. Once the dominance has been established you should apply copious amounts of affection.

Kenai, Kita and Fluff were getting along just fine. June seems to be the one stirring the pot. I know your very knowledgeable with Rottweilers but maybe consider hiring a dog trainer who is very knowledgeable in Rottweilers. I think June just needs the extra help with his behavioral issues. Maybe consider getting one or even both fixed. I know my male dog calmed down when he got fixed. He was a rescue so he has issues he is still resolving. He has come a long way but fixing him helped solve some of the problems like trying to be alpha when it comes to other dogs.

It seems something is in the air this winter making dogs violent and crazy. I have four German Shepherds (adults) and three of the four are trying to kill each other. They're separated now. This pack consists of the parents and two daughters. Then I have three gsd puppies and the two older sisters tried to kill puppies earlier today. The only thing I could suggest, though due to animal fur baby Karen's good luck finding it, bark collars with a shock that'll lift them off their feet if there's any barking or screaming. However, the dogs are all little powder puff fur baby crowd has had anything effective removed from the market causing those that aren't powder puff fur babies to just have to be chained or caged away from each other. It's just sad really..

@raysmith649 Жыл бұрын
you have got to make them get along if you want to keep them its not fair to any of them to keep them separated like that would you let your children live in separates parts of the house because they didn't get along me and my wife really like you a lot and we are not trying to put you down we just want to help and try to suggest. I.e. watch June very close and at the first even slight sign of aggression correct him one good way to do this is with a static collar but please be sure you do not turn it to high only barley enough to get his attn. we was against these collars before but they have come along way and i have even used it on myself to see what it was. for example when you get shocked by touching someone it is not even that hard. But the most important thing is that you have to have to make time for each one of them no matter what they depend on you for direction and guidance and if they don't get it they don't know what do. All just suggestions the only other thing i can think of is, that as hard as it may be you may have to find June a home where he can be the only one, because its not fair to anyone You, Sahm, Cozy or the Babies to keep them separated they need each other you are family and family works out there problems

Thank you Collin for this video. You're doing just fine, dont worry. There's no judgement here. It's so admirable that you've found the courage to share your story. It's not easy and you are not letting them or anyone down. You're doing the best that you can given the circumstances. Do not feel bad please 🙏 . You inspired us to get our first Rottweiler, Kai and without your advice and guidance on this channel we'd have been lost. So a massive thank you for that! Time is a great healer. All will be fine with time, and hope June will outgrow his tension and realise the big love amongst you all & become close once again 🙏 . Big hug and love to Fluffy, he's a brave soldier 🥰 ... Keeta's coat is so silky! Salmon oil does wonders! Stay strong, stay positive, and be You, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Love from the UK !

Collin, I have told my dog stories here before....we had to separate COMPLETELY 2 dogs and muzzle one. AND these are Lancashire Heelers, terriers, and small dogs. The problem dog was a rescue. Not properly trained as a pup. Yes, separating is a pain but I know you will handle that. I will be praying for all of you. I love The Rotty Ranch and all of you. Be assured you guys have millions of heartfelt love and support ❤️ ♥️.

Aaahhhhh. Honey, June's trying to measure up an enlisted the biggest brothets help. They had a kinship early on when June came home. Fluffs always tolerated the puppy antics. 9 mos ish. He's filling out growing up an pushes harder. I've tackled Mikey twice now an had to work at keeping the direct alpha on. He wouldn't quit trying until I made him. He's a strong dude too. The second time. TODAY. This time was not near as a struggle to get him to submiss. He's starting to push limits tho. Left fence once out back. Once today across. He's taunted an has been awesome about the yard thing. It's gonna get worse before the learning curve ends. What the terrible twos... I feel ya an ache for your aches. I love Mikey more then life as do you with yours. Be smarter then the haters say nothing in response their not worth the effort. An the don't know shit about who you kids are an what your about. You owe know one in over 100000 nothing honey. Shit happens you got lots going on an you both know how I feel about you. Take a break take a breath an put the camera down for as long as it takes to regroup. Take the time ya need. I love you. We love you. An let that negative crap roll Tell Sahm an Cozy hey big hugs all around. Cept the goats... LoL. I love you so much. Put the camera down. Post a note ON VACATION!!! YOUR FINE NO YOUR GREAT. SAHM hide his phone for a week. How ever long. Later kids. Collin. You got this. Just hush puppy. Take care you !!!

Awe we came for the rotties and fell in love with you and your growing family. We want to hear about everything. The dogs when they are good or bad. Your beautiful Samantha and that wonderful baby that is just too cute for words. Please don't ever stop making videos. The world is a miserable place. Don't let that stop you from people like us that love to watch you. I got my indy and had no idea what I was doing. I don't think you understand how much you have helped guide me and my family. I see the pain and hear it in your voice at the end when he said the Rotties were your life and now you have a growing family and you're trying to understand how to blend these especially when you have dogs going at each other it doesn't seem fair and I know it's hurting but I know that you love the dogs and your family and you will figure it out

Thank you for being so open about this situation. I have one Rottweiler, and the only reason I am hesitant to get more (besides the obvious strain on my time and funds) is the worry about the dynamics between the dogs. It feels like it would be a delicate balance. I hope you find a solution that suits your family and your incredible dogs.

I currently have a 13 year old male Border Collie mix (Shadow), and a 9 month old female Rottie (Ophelia) in the house. I love them both immensely, but I have to say that Ophelia has been, by far, the biggest challenge of the 2. I love the breed, but I can't stop her from eating her poo, and the Shadow's poo! She does this frequently on a daily basis, despite us giving her high quality dog food. She also constantly jockeys for position when playing with the Shadow, to where Shadow growls then snaps at her to stop. Right now, Shadow is the 'alpha', but i'm afraid as he ages and slows down as he has been, Ophelia will take advantage of this and assert her dominance in ever so stronger ways. I hope Ophelia doesn't hurt Shadow, or worse!

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous person. It is heartbreaking that there are trolls out there that feel they have the right to make negative, nasty comments when they see a very tiny piece of your lives. You are the best and such a positive, honest ambassador for the breed. You do everything right as you work through this terrible time. Such difficult decisions to make. I will always be hear hoping you will be able to continue keeping this going. I know you are thinking of the difficult choices ahead. I know this sounds silly when you are so skilled at what you do but somebody like Caesar Milan who might be able to help, someone who deals with pack situation and has 30 years experience with rotties. Your situation is so unique, he might want you to use for his new show. All the very best.

Sorry to hear the issues you're having, definitely get trainers involved and information as much as you can, Make sure fluffy is healthy inside and out, they could sense something wrong with him? possibly keep Junior muzzled when they're together if you choose to let that happen otherwise you got to do what you got to do... Good luck

Rottweilers have their individual personalities. They can and mostly do reflect their owner’s personality as well, but not always. Rottweiler’s can be loving, understanding and empathetic. They can also be sad, defensive and emotive. Colin is a fantastic owner, I would say pack leader, and trainer that I have seen. He will do what is best for his Rottweiler pack, his human family, employer and his community. Do what you think is right, Colin.

It seems like you've done the best you can with Junior and all the dogs, and that is a very good job indeed. You've said that you don't know what the problem is, it doesn't seem like a normal struggle for dominance to be the Alpha dog. That's usually resolved quickly. But there is something going on in June's head causing him to behave this way. I'd take him to the Vet and ask him if it could be physical, something in his brain (like a tumor). But barring that, it seems like you need to call in a professional Dog Trainer... Something is seriously wrong with June that he would continually attack another dog in his pack. I hope you get it all figured out soon and that the whole pack- human and Canine, get back to normal soon. You're a good guy Collin, and trying to do your best for your dogs and your family . Ignore the people who try to put you down. That's just jealousy and a reflection of their insecurities. Take care.

Feel for you. Had a German Short Hair Pointer and Rott both females. Got along for years...until they didn't. The last 5 years I couldn't have them in the same room at the same time. Would have given on away but they were both 10 yrs old at the time and I figured one or both would be dead in a few years. Nope, both lived another 7 years. I swear they just hung on for spite because they died within months of each other.

We have similar situation. We have 5 rotties. Two of our females, even though one was a mom figure to the other, can’t be together. They’ve been in 3 fights. The last one just a few weeks ago. Both dogs are still healing from the injuries. It’s traumatizing for sure. We all love our pets, they’re family right? So now we have two packs in the house. We miss having our pack as a whole. We are considering rehoming the “trouble maker”. She’s our smallest rottie but our smartest and most obedient one too, but she’s gotten into scuffs with every other dog we have.

Can't you hire someone to come and take the dogs for long walks, to keep them me tally stimulated, temporarily, etc.? It would have to be someone who has experience with big dogs, particularly Rottweilers. Don't mind me sending you comments. I just thought of this. Maybe in your absence the dogs are vying for leader of the pack. You're the pack leader but if you're not around right now one of the dogs has to take over (in their minds).
