Very cool to be open and share this. Rock musicians almost never open up like this so I think this is incredibly valuable. I hope it starts a conversation. I feel like I could always sense your struggles with depression through your music and it was definitely something I identified with. I'm glad you're finally getting the therapy and the help and the support you deserve. I think you're a talented artist and look forward to hearing whatever you put out in the future. But please never feel like making music should take priority over your mental health. Do what you gotta do to stay healthy first. I'll always enjoy the records you've put out no matter what.

Hey Kyle, I know this won't retroactively make your depression justified, but I hope it will give you a sense of meaning in this whole mess. I spent most of my teens listening to your music and Orthodox is honestly one of my favorite albums ever, totally up there with the classics. I'm a musician myself and we have played our jazz/neosoul/indie interpretation of Amen Amen on multiple occasions with my band. I honestly think you're one of the most genious songwriters I know about, and thank you for supplying us with great stuff. I am also more than happy to hear that you're better now, I wish you as much luck as one can get, peace ✌️

Hey Kyle! I just wanted to say, I attended an Alice in Chains concert in Saratoga. NY in 2013, and prior to the show, was wandering about the other stages, and luckily, happened upon you guys at the start of your set. Beware of Darkness produced some phenomenal music during its lifetime, and I left that show more impressed with you guys than I was with AIC or Jane's Addiction (not to discount them...) But I left that day having discovered new, great music in you guys. I just wanted you to know how you touched my soul. I instantaneously purchased Orthodox and when it released, Are You Real? and I listen to your music on the regular throughout my week. Thank you for what you created in Beware of Darkness. I can completely identify with the depression you are describing, because I deal with it and anxiety on a daily basis. I, too know what it is to have depression envelop your every move, especially songwriting. I appreciate your transparency. I will be picking up your book soon. You are a prolific songwriter and have a sound all your own. I've always appreciated that. I hope music becomes how it once felt for you again. Keep up the good fight!

Ive been basically depressed my whole life, I wish I could afford to go do an ayahuasca ceremony but capitalism had made sure thats not going to be an option I think a big problem was they chose the wrong singles and also the industry is sped up nowadays, you gotta always be touring and producing new stuff, the rolling stones got to take a year or two off and go do them between crazy tour schedules and new albums, the beatles got to just go f off to india and get high for a while if they wanted, they had time to acclimatize into the life and nowadays people get jammed into immediately.with no support and a buncha ever-present music industry ghouls pushing them to be as profitable as possible. Take your time and make the music you wanna make man! Im patient im here for it
