On the aerial photo at 7:48, the building labeled "Farmhouse" to the SW of the 4th bridge on the causeway into Carentan is the position that Col. Cole and about 70 men mounted the famous bayonet charge that resulted in him being awarded the Medal of Honor. They charged the Farmhouse, a line of trees that ran NW of it, which isn't very discernable in the photo, and ended in the orchard just beyond the house, which in the photo is just to the right of the "Old Canal" label. They charged from position immediately surrounding the 4th bridge along that curvy road and the fields around it.

If you are about to take us on an Easy Company 80th anniversary journey, I'm all in. I can't begin to think how much work has gone into researching and writing these but I'm so glad I subscribed. I love the way you fact-check the show and give all the guys the credit they are due. Our small family tie to the 101st makes these all the more fascinating. Thank you.

Good work, War&Truth. You’re gold panning. I’d say you have some flakes shining through at the murky bottom.

I think Easy company got lost on the march to Carentan in reality.
@War_And_Truth3 ай бұрын
Why do you say that?
@jerbs53463 ай бұрын
@@War_And_Truth I can't remember the source, but I read somewhere that it was really E company that got lost from F Company on the march to Carentan. They would also be using the password, "Thristy-Victory."

@@jerbs5346 It might have been from Mark Bando. He was critical of the way F Company was portrayed in the series.

@@War_And_Truth That’s a problem a lot of war films have. They want to show the unit it portrays as being the best, and a part of doing that is to downplay the role of other units and say, "Bruh, our unit did the heavy lifting." When they were really just ordinary men trusted into extraordinary situations. One of the problems people had with this show when it came out is, "Limited Perspective: While Band of Brothers provides an intimate portrayal of the experiences of the soldiers of Easy Company, some viewers felt that it did not offer a broader perspective on the war The series primarily focuses on the American side of the conflict and does not delve into the experiences of soldiers from other countries or the impact of the war on civilians." So to fix this problem, I felt like the show would've benefitted if they made of other parachute units' actions: 1. Welsh should've told his men at Saint-Côme-du-Mont, "The 5-oh-deuce's been taking a beating at the Causeway leading into Carentan." 2. Winters should've said, "Fox took out an 88 battery in Eindhoven. It's clear to move in." So people can understand it's not just Easy company.

@@War_And_TruthYeah, I honestly think the show would've benefitted had they made mentions of other units like: 1. Welsh, in episode 3, should've told his men, "The Five-oh-deuce took a beating at the Causeway." 2. Winters in episode 4 should tell his men, "Fox company took out an 88 battery in Eindhoven. It's clear to move in." 3. After Easy lost the battle of Nuenen on September 20, the day later on September 21, we should see Winters who has a long face being reassured by Sink, "Able, Fox, and A squadron of the 44th with elements of the Hussars just took Nuenen today." War films tend to treat the unit it portrays as being supermen, when in reality these were normal guys thrusted into extraordinary situations.
