Eric, I grew up sunworshipping and burning. I have had many pre cancerous, squamous and basal removed from back ,arms , nose and 2 melanomas on my back. This all started in my 30s and I am now 60. I go twice a year to Derm and now wear an allover lotion with suncreen daily. I live in Las Vegas and visit Kona often, and I have slowed or stopped new growths. UV clothing and a hat is a plus. Stay ahead of it ! We appreciate you both, and wish you good health❤

Eric, best wishes for a speedy recovery and a clean bill of health after your CT scan. My mother had melanoma, so I see a dermatologist once a year to be on the safe side. Even on the main land, it's so very important to be your own advocate. I wish I wasn't speaking from personal experience! Happy Holidays and Aloha from IL.

I know your pain! been there and even had pre-Melanoma on my thigh! Caught it early and had it removed. That creme on da face burns like hell. my sympathy and heart felt feelings for a speedy recovery. Lots of sunscreen every morning on your face and repeat, with a big sun hat and try to stay our of the sun at peak hours. Warm Alohas and a Mele Kalikmaka

Aloha......you are definitely not alone in going through this. I'm 82 and am in the process of recovery from the Fluorouacil/Calciprotriene treatment which btw is way better than the Fluorouacil alone. I see my derm doc every 4 months just to keep ahead of it all. The UV clothing is a godsend....better than sunscreen I think. Don't stop enjoying the beach....just go early morning and late afternoon and don't forget the Sharkbanz!!!

Take care of yourself. And absolutely advocate for yourself. I had a spot on my nose that seemed to be a pimple that wouldn’t heal. Derm diagnosed it as rosacea. I had a feeling it was cancer but didn’t advocate for myself to get a biopsy then. Six months later they took a biopsy and it was basal cell. I had MOHs surgery six months ago. And repair by plastic surgeon. Still a very visible scar. I just bought photozyme youth recovery. Supposed to help with sun damage. (Penn Smith has videos on it. ) I’m hoping it curtails the actinic keratosis above my lip and any other damage I don’t yet know about. I’m about your age. Teen/ college age in the 80’s, when we would sunbathe with baby oil and foil and then go to a tanning booth. Eric, that side of your face is where the sun would hit it when you are driving, more damage on that side.

Buy a big wide brimmed hat, ditch the ball caps. The store at the harbour has the sun shield shirts. Good luck,!!
