It's sad that more people don't talk about or remember this show. I grew up with HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi and even still have my old DVD of like volume 1 of the first season. I even have most of the episodes from it memorized. It was a good show and it's just a little sad realizing how few people actually saw or remember it

I always found it strange how popular the show was and then it just up and disappeared from the Network. Only recently has CN been giving the show a little bit of love in small cameos here and there. What's strange is that the show still airs to this day on a Latin American channel called "Tooncast". I'm just hoping that we get at least some reruns of it or the complete series on a DVD release.

We have Boomerang for classic Cartoon Network shows but even they won’t air it. Only 2 DVD Volumes were released, not available to buy digitally despite many classic Cartoon Network shows can be bought digitally despite being incomplete on DVD, a few unaired episodes of Season 3 for being pulled off air a few weeks early, and barely even recognizing that the series even exist. I feel like there is more to the story.

@Competent One It was popular with kids and teens at the time and was an important show to Cartoon Network back in 2004. It even got a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Float. It was just cancelled because the Creator Sam Register was pissed off at Cartoon Network and so left as Vice President to Cartoon Network. Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Show and Cartoon Orbit went with him. He still worked on Cartoon Network shows but anything that belonged to him up to that point in 2006 disappeared.

You mentioned how the show disappeared from Cartoon Network's website at the same time if was abruptly canceled. Yeah this is related and was intentional. Turns out the reason it was cancelled was CN had just undergone a change in management and the new guy who came in hated J-Pop. Yeah he didn't care that the show was doing well and popular he personally didn't like the music style so he cancelled the show and removed all references to it. As I understand it he was into Hip-hop instead so after eliminating Hi Hi he launched Class of 3000 which ended up nowhere near as popular and was also quickly cancelled and forgotten.

@@mewn8027 Andre 3000 produced the show and voiced the main character who was basically an expy of himself. The show was about a famous musician who comes to teach music to a group of kids at an inner city school... and that's pretty much it. Dull forgettable plots with not very interesting characters. I gave it a fair chance when it started, but quickly decided I didn't like it. After realizing a show I loved had been canned in favor of it the dislike turned to personal hatred.

The band this show was based on in my opinion made J pop and K pop mainstream... we shouldn't deny this at all because it introduced me to Japanese music and I started seeing many anime started using their Japanese openings around that time (remember when Naruto exploded among the masses and we heard the second season intro Haruka Kanata despite being the 3rd season here in america?)

Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi was one of my personal favorite cartoon shows growing up besides Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans. When this show was first on, i was kinda in the inbetween period of being a normal cartoon fan and being an anime fan so i consider this show to be a bridge between the 2 for me. i loved watching Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi whenever it was on tv and especially whenever i got home for school because i knew the show had an appeal to me....it was also my first time experiencing the influence of japanese culture of J-POP given the music style. like most fans of the show, i was deeply sadden when i first found out it was cancelled because it was my favorite show i was watching at the time (just like Teen Titans). no shade to the guy who uploaded this video but its impossible for a non fan of the show to understand the impact this show has made, especially in America.

Well not long after you made your comment, Sam Register became in charge of Warner Brothers Animation and Cartoon Network Studios(not the actual channel). So far he has been the Executive Producer to the HBO Max Looney Tunes Cartoons show and Jellystone. He has also been Executive Producer to Teen Titans Go, Unikitty and Mike Tyson Mysteries when he was independent.

@tanaka senpai No surprise there considering he worked on both Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go. So only makes sense to work on a movie that is a crossover between the 2. That also gets me thinking that it would be awesome if Teen Titans Go did a crossover with Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. It would be way better than the Powerpuff Girls 2016 crossover episode and the Thundercats Roar crossover episode. Afterall, Puffy AmiYumi still do the opening theme song for Teen Titans Go.

Here's what i know HiHi Puffy AmiYumi was indeed Sam Register's show but it's mostly a production of Renegade Animation, a animation studio founded by former Disney animator, Darrell Van Citters Puffy AmiYumi made their US debut with the Teen Titans first [though they did appear once on MuchMusic in Canada thru their "Boogie Woogie No.5" music video years prior to their debut thru Teen Titans] The show's 3rd season never aired in the US but mostly in japan (as confirmed by a blog from one of the show's artists) The show had an episode delayed (Initially titled "Tsunami Yumi") because of the then Tsunami that hit japan that also caused Capcom to release the planned DLC for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 as a stand alone title called "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3" Renegade Animation during the show's production was working on the now infamous movie "Christmas Is Here Again" but failed to get a film distributor to release in theatres but before it's [Japan only] 3rd season, Renegade scored animation projects based on the Mr. Men and Little Miss books as well as the "Funny Face" line of drink mixes Cartoon Network during the show's lifespan was toying with live-action and the show fell victim to CN's slow process towards the infamous "CN Real" block The show was hardly marketed as it had only 2 (or 3) video games to it's name, with the last being the subpar game "The Genie and the Amp" [the little to no marketing also applies to Puffy AmiYumi's US releases [music albums] that tried to ride the tide of success of both shows]
