So sorry that you had to experience Shingles. Thank you for sharing. Sharing is education and the public needs to be educated as to many people discount the nature and potential discomfort and lasting harm that this disease can cause. Russ hope you consider getting the Shingles vaccine for prophylactic purposes and hope Chris has as well to help in mitigating any future outbreaks. Shingles is very painful. The lesions follow the nerve pathway and are excruciating. I pray your physician gave you some pain medication.

You guys come in contact with so many people with the B&B that it is so important to get vaccinated for Flu and for Shingles! My girlfriend's father had shingles in the same place as Chris. He has permanent painful nerve damage in his eye. You can't see anything on his face or in his eye, but he feels pain and discomfort constantly in his eye. He can never get any relief, and he's very depressed because of it, as you can imagine. :( Feel better soon, Chris!

Shingles cannot be passed from one person to another. However, the virus that causes shingles, the varicella zoster virus, can spread from a person with active shingles to cause chickenpox in someone who had never had chickenpox or received chickenpox vaccine.

Chris I hope you are on the mend. Hopefully, you got the medication in time and that it doesn't get too painful for you. I had shingles once and it was on the back of my head and side of my face. I was thankful it did not get in my eyes or mucus membranes. Honestly, it was one of the most painful things I have endured. Shingles definitely will try your patience. Don't scratch or pick at them; they will scare very easily. Be prepared for people staring when out in public. Anyway, just want to let you know that my thoughts are with you and wishing you a very speedy recovery. Best of luck.

Wow. So sorry that Chris is going through this. I personally have never had chicken pox. Drs have said that I wont get them, but there is a higher chance i could get shingles when i get older, and that it will be worse. It looks like you are taking great care of Chris though. Oh man I feel you. You are so glad you didn't get the pain associated with shingles and even more lucky it did not get in your eye. I went through it and I was in pain hell for almost 4 weeks. Feel better and stop stressing with documenting this. Your health should come first. Relax and meditate.
