My name is John Daub, a KZbin creator and reporter in Japan living here for over 23 years.
Welcome to the new ONLY in JAPAN (John Daub) Channel which is a continuation of a series I created after the Great Tohoku Earthquake om March 11th, 2011. It was from this disaster which impacted the lives of so many people in Japan that I felt a strong desire to create a show full of positivity and stories about the country I've called home since 1998.
It's not easy to start a new channel and I know it will be a real challenge but I feel it's the right thing to do. This particular channel was created in September 2011which traces back to my roots and desires to make this the no.1 show about Japan on KZbin. Thanks for joining this community! Leave me a comment to say hi, share a story or send me your ideas.
My other channel in the ONLY in JAPAN series is ONLY in JAPAN * GO:

Abroad in Japan thank you Chris :) we both know what it takes to do this, the love for telling a story, the feeling of uploading that hard work - and starting over is crazy, but one thing I know is that we are very much on the same page when it comes to putting our heart and soul into the work for the love of our home here. I’ve only met you once, somewhat 🍻🥴 but an honor and fun night it was. Life should be an adventure and we’ve got a lot of amazing stories yet to tell. I’ll be watching your streams too and it may be me tapping you on the shoulder one day 😏 thanks for all you do.

John - your channel brings joy to many people. 'I'm fascinated with the country and people of Japan. I watch anime, and when you see the real places compared to the animated it's amazing just how close they get it. My only opportunity to visit Japan came in 1992 when I was still a touring musician and was asked to play for 2 weeks, and as luck had it - I had just been hired elsewhere. It's still one of my biggest disappointments, so your channel really does help me see what I may have missed,. I also find you and your story fascinating. There are people who live and die on one city block and there are those of us who need to see what's out there. I think I would have liked to live in Japan or at the very least visited. Now my health is failing and thanks for KZbin and channels like yours - Cheers!

I have been watching Only in Japan for several years now. I am half Japanese and have never been to Japan and would really like to go but it just hasn't happened yet. I love watching your videos for a look at this unique culture. You are so respectful and easygoing and you do your research - all things I appreciate in a person. I wish you luck with your new channel - you will do great!

I wish you and Kanae all the best on the start of this new channel 👍 let's make it even bigger than the last one and show what beautiful things Japan has to offer. You are one of the videos I first watched back in 2014 when I planned my first trip to Tokyo in 2015. Looking forward to the future videos. Maybe one day I'll help you film å video. Matane!

What a blessing that you made a cameo appearance on my favorite KZbinr's channel (Mike Chen @ Strictly Dumpling)! I just subscribed, and I am looking forward to seeing your videos. I'm in northern Georgia (USA) and have always lived here but have a "very curious" mindset when it comes to Japan. Would like to visit someday.
