It sucks how players end their own careers like this. I hope he comes back and shows he changed
@Flexb1232 жыл бұрын
A girl ended his career based on allegations. Only to later not show up to court, and instead she went on vacation and the crown withdrew the charges. There was never any images surfacing, just allegations of a one time abuse, which could have easily been him defending himself from her. Based on charges being dropped, Osuna should have never been suspended and basically black listed from earning a career.

@@Flexb123 Not quite correct. There were pictures of the abused woman and they were published, briefly, and made available to the MLB investigation. She went to Mexico which is her home - not on vacation. She refused to return to testify because that would mean Osuna would have lost his job and income and she is the mother of his child that he has to support - so a practical decision on her part and one that, sadly, many abused women make. As a result of her not returning to testify, charges had to be dropped. MLB did a thorough investigation and found him guilty of the charges. He even admitted to it and stated it was a reaction to personal pressures, etc. He then had a 2nd incident of domestic abuse a year later while with the Astros (different woman - a relative of his, I believe, but not sure). In my view, which may differ from yours, he deserved what he got and he is the engineer of his own downfall.

@@creatingkismet2075 Wow, I guess actually knowing the facts rather than operating on a pre-conceived notion that you want to believe to support your prior held beliefs about women is a good way to go eh? Requires not being an imbecile though, which is hard.

I still remember when the Jays traded him. I don't think Osuna got a fair shake IMO. My thing is, nothing really ever came out from the person who called the cops. She never showed to the trial, instead was on vacation, and the charges were eventually dropped. No images ever came out, nothing on what exactly happened outside he showed up at her place and assaulted her. But I've seen girls attack guys and guy defends themself and they end up charged, simply for pushing a girl off. I mean this really crippled his career, a situation where the charges were dropped eventually, but the league and Jays reacted to claims and accusations rather than letting the courts settle it first.

The Jays could really use him back in the pen these days. If he tries to come back to MLB I hope they welcome him back for a second chance.

I didn't think he did. But if I am wrong, I apologize to his partner at the time and I hope that I can ease your grief. But then not all convictions are true, even when they happen. Sometimes a "guilty" person does not equal innocence, although it should. Sometimes a person pleads guilty to a lesser crime in order to a worse fate. Been there, done that.

He admitted to doing it as part of his penance with his anger/abuse therapy and in hopes that it would save his career.

@Flexb1232 жыл бұрын
What off field issues? A girl alleged he abused her and later dropped the charges. No images every surfaced and there would have been in this day and age. Whoever the girl was she chose to go on vacation during the trial and crown withdrew the charges. Nobody knows what really happened, he could have been defending himself from her. But because of the allegations from a single girl based on one incident he can't earn a career any longer? It's absurd. Sure if the charges ended up sticking but they didn't, but baseball had already ruined his name by then. So much for innocent until proven guilty. Same with Alomar. Poor guy was beloved by Jays fans and because of a female alleging sexual misconduct from 10-15 years before, his rep is forever damaged badly.

No, the crown withdrew the charges. The girl wouldn't even show up to court and went on vacation instead. I think it was something blown way out of proportion. Otherwise we'd have more info/ images etc. But all we got was allegation and then nothing. And Osuna paid the ultimate price, losing his job and reputation.
@josephrandal47202 жыл бұрын
@@Flexb123 The girl didn’t show up to court because Osuna paid her off and sent her back to Mexico. She definitely didn’t go on a vacation LOL. As to why there’s no more info or pictures? Again, he paid her off to keep quiet. Osuna is a bum and doesn’t deserve to be back in the MLB.
