It's way more simple. The streets have their grip on hip-hop as a whole and many may have a guilty conscious about the crime they have been exposed to. If that's not the reason, than many hip hop tropes i.e. "money, fame and bitches" are nothing to be proud of, if you have been brought up with some moral teachings you might end up regretting things you propagated in your songs.

One of the saddest things I ever saw was Craig Mack standing outside my club Suede on 23rd street unable to get in. My man looked dejected so I got him a drink inside but it was depressing. Nice guy though, I didnt know him like a lot of other dudes but from that one run in he was nice as hell. Loved his shit as well

Ikr I couldn't believe how much he had deteriorated until I saw him before dying. Puff sitting up in his mansions and enjoy the high life. A person like him should NEVER abandon those who helped him get that fortune starting with CRAIG MACK. I don't care what you have to do unless Mack was a toxic person which he didn't appear to me before passing. I'm so disgusted with Diddy in how he managed all of those label artists aside from Total. Shyne LOX Mack and Big suffered crushing ends to so much success generated over the years Puff cannot deny that. Mase is a different deal. He pretty much went his own way with debts he incurred by not completing his recording contract and doing the religion thing full time like Loon.

Basically it goes to show how much Puff and Suge screwed up. These people were on top of the world in the 90s. There was no reason to screw over artists. Everyone could have ate and then some. Everyone could have been investing, buying real estate, starting businesses etc. They could have all ate well at the top without the drama and the backstabbing and shady contracts.
