I recently reread the diary and was wondering what happened to Anne Frank's classmates since they are listed in the newer versions of the diary. Very interesting to know and extremely tragic. I live in Amsterdam and Amsterdam South where most of these children lived is a living memorial to them. There are stumbling stones everywhere in that neighbourhood. On the Merwedeplein, where Anne lived, there is a statue of her. My only comfort is that they are not forgotten.

I have seen the updated book of Anne Frank. I didn't know that the classmates were listed in it. Very sad and humbling at the same time. We are all just people. The sad thing is, even now in 2021 Jewish people still have a hard time in America. I would hope in Germany the discrimination has lessened some. I could not imagine at the age of approximately 13 or younger not understanding what is going on, scared and taken from one's family to be gassed. I am not sure what is. worse, to be gassed right away or tortured and then die or be gassed? This film is very touching.

I've never seen photos of most of Anne's classmates who died aside from Sanne Ledermann and Ilse Wagner (before 1941 there was also Juultje Ketallaper but it's unknown if she was ever at the Montessori School with Anne). May their memory be a blessing.

Have to say this was a very informative video. First of it's kind relating to Anne Frank I have seen. Like most of us she had friends, wrote about them in her diary, and they also have stories. Most people when making videos about Anne Frank just repeat the same information.

Anne's family was in a better disposition in a way .. Otto was rich and he found a hiding in his office.. Sigh . Many friends of ann did not have this opportunity and were arrested in late 42 or 43 . Poor young kids! This makes me cry.. god bless thèm

I am researching my husband's Mother who was also a classmate or friend of Anne's. She survived the war by hiding and shortly after she moved to the US with her own mother. She died in 1983. We do not know many details of her time in hiding, as she would not speak about it. We are curious how you found all the important information you have here, and are curious if you ever came across her name?

What was her name? From what I've found, the only other female classmate who went into hiding was Leni Duyzend, and she died this year.

I thought the same. It's so sad. I now have the original unedited version of the diary here. In parts its very different from the "normal" version. There she wrote that Betty Bloemendaal was send to Poland. She knew that she was murdered there. Someone of the helpers must have told them

Thank you so much for sharing this video and all the information in it. Reading about and watching all these children and their families being murdered, most of them with not even one family member surviving left me with an empty helpless feeling. I thought it brilliant editing pictures of the houses where the children lived instead of pictures of the children themselves because they are not to be found.

Watching this made me so emotional. When I think about what they could have become and what they didn't get to experience. The heart of man can be so wicked, myself included. We need to love more, hate less. May their souls rest in peace.

The fate of Anne Frank's classmates crossed my mind while contemplating the relatively privileged disposition of her family in the early years of their hiding. This is such an informative video. My goodness, they were all so young. :'(

All the information about Anne's classmates made this an interesting video. Sadly, most of them perished in the camps. Wish you had included Sann Lederman and Hanneli Goslar too in this list , though they are already famous.

@@seemarajderkar3019 Sanne Ledermann did not attend the same school as Anne and was not her classmate, that's why she is not included. When Anne was forced to attend the Public Jewish Lyceum in Amsterdam, Sanne went to a private Jewish school.

@@Twent25 In August of 1942 Hello escaped deportation twice in Amsterdam. A month later he travelled to Belgium where he was reunited with his parents. The family went into hiding near Brussels. On September 3, 1944 (the day Anne and her family were deported to Auschwitz on the last train from The Netherlands) Belgium was freed. After the war Hello worked in Belgium for a while, then travelled to The Netherlands to be with his grandparents who also survived the war by going into hiding, and he emigrated to the US in 1947.

When I was in school the first time I learned about the Holocaust was when me and my classmates had to watch the boy in the striped pajamas but sometimes i always seen little facts here and there about Anne frank and her family and finally looked into her story after watching the movies about her and her family i cried because how can those people be so evil towards other human beings? Continue to rest in peace 🕊️🙏🏾 anne frank margot frank edith frank and Otto frank he passed away in 1989 and continue to rest in peace the van daans the family who the franks were in hiding with and continue to rest in peace all of Anne's classmates you all will always be missed and never forgotten ❤️❤️❤️. Did all of this to these men women and children just because they were Jewish.

I learned from a video of the new Amsterdam memorial to the victims, that there was another Anna Frank who was murdered. They were born the same year 1929, and this Anna died in 1943 aged 14. Both killed for being born Jewish.
