Reminds me of an animated character from my childhood, Tobor the 8th Man. He was also a robot who was disguised as a human detective. It was a B&W Japanese cartoon from the early sixties, kind of like Astro Boy or Prince Planet. Maybe you could do videos on that Tobor! How cool would THAT be!

For me, there are two movies that stand above the rest when it comes to science fiction in the 1950s: "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and "Forbidden Planet". Both, in my opinion, still stand up quite well today.

“Day” especially for me continues to hold up exceedingly well because it’s not an invasion story, but instead carries a warning from an interstellar emissary. Also, Bernard Herrmann’s score too is still very enjoyable to listen to.

I love watching those old black & white sci-fi moves. I play them EVERY weekend. I’ll be outside doing some work while the movies play on the TV in the garage. I often walk by a see a scene, then sit down and watch a few minutes of it )while sitting in front of a fan to cool off)…then go do some more chores, then sit down again, repeat and repeat. Love those days…

Never saw it again... until about a year ago. I think I found it on KZbin! At 72 years old, I was so excited! Finally, after 65 years... I got to see the end! Awesome! Good to know Tobar is OK. Man, these episodes, this episode in particular is what I would call a “nerd litmus test” and I don’t mean that in a totally negative way. I used that tag line on the old original Dune movie. If I talked to someone I suspected could be a nerd like me, then knowing Dune sealed the deal. I would say the same would go for old 50s robot movies. Keep up the good work!!

Last year they found the 3ft model of the Enterprise in a storage locker that was used in the intro of the original series where you see it whooshing past the camera. That had been lost since the late 70s and is now the subject of a lawsuit. Involving the finder, the auction house and Gene Roddenberry's son.
