The story writes itself. Hangman beats Omega at All Out, but Omega can't hit the OWA. The build for the rematch is about Omega promising Hangman that he will hit the OWA and beat him. On the rematch Omega hits the OWA, the crowd thinks Hangman has lost, and then he kicks out. The crowd goes crazy, Hangman beats Omega again and you have the strongest top babyface champion possible. What great storytelling. Hangman was in the same position after Revolution 2020 where he had the opportunity to deliver the Buckshot on Omega and didn't. Now, we have come full circle over 12 months later to Hangman sitting on the apron again with a prone Omega and he still couldn't pull the trigger. What a great frigging story. Hangman got to win the belt. Maybe not at All Out because I believe that makes the Redemption of the Hangman story even more layered.

I've been into wrestling for a few years now, but I've never had a storyline that just stuck with me and I'd look forward to seeing more of, week after week, even when it wasn't even an 'active' storyline. Until this one. The layered storytelling that expands years before AEW even aired (the Bullet Club in-fighting) that showcases who these two characters are and what they stand for, and how they came together and then fell apart. The parallels of this scene with the almost-Lariat from the ending of the Revolution match against the Young Bucks. Subtle, precise, well-woven storytelling. Proving that you don't need to have a million consecutive matches to build a good story. Some stories have the capacity to never be really over, to just rest and return, just as strong as they were at first. I feel this one between Kenny and Hangman is going to be that.

The most recent example of this that we can think of (having watched wrestling for over 30 years each) is the Daniel Bryan WM30 storyline, and perhaps the Kofimania run, which itself had an infusion of the Daniel Bryan WM30 storyline. THIS is an example of hyper realistic story that nearly EVERYONE can find things to relate to in their personal lives.

Nope, don’t do it right away, you can get at least 3 matches out of it. Have Omega win the first 2 (either by cheating or do one win by DQ, one by Omega cheating) and then Hangman finally wins the third one and becomes champion.
