I’m so happy you made this video for me to remember the feeling… I was in Paris for a few days before and for a few days after the opening ceremony. We saw the ceremony, went to two games. We got to go to the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower. We saw the outside stadiums and heard/ felt the people cheer. I felt safe, happy, connected to the world and excited. I wore my country colors/flag and saw the pride in other people’s flags and colors. We went to eat at one of your recommended restaurants and had steak frites. It was absolutely the time of my life. Loved being in Paris for this special, special time. Thanks, France. It was amazing! ❤️🇫🇷🌟🇵🇷

Was in the in late July and saw three different sports. The atmosphere was amazing and super positive. My hotel was within the QR-code area but police officers were super nice every time we passed by and the presence of a lot of international people, police plus military, made me feel safe. Paris made a great job and it wil lbe remembered for so long by all of us who attended. ❤😊

I recently found your channel and do enjoy it. I live in metro Atlanta, GA and have since 1994. I did attend the Olympics here. A lot of people left town and rented out their houses for the games. This was really before remote working but Atlanta has heavy traffic and it was the best two weeks of traffic we have had since I moved here. Also July weather here is typically very hot and very humid, but during the games the weather was really nice with miler temperatures. I went to beach volleyball here and yes the Brazilian fans are incredible! I hope you really enjoy it.

The Olympics in Paris have been beautiful. For instance the Olympic Flame in the balloon rising--gorgeous. Also the whole section culminating in the ighting of the flame, with the French athletes. Also, I appreciate that you guys go to a bakery in almost every video. Respect.

"It's so beautiful it looks fake." I was thinking the same thing. The Eiffel Tower background was unreal. I liked seeing the Olympics from a local's perspective. Thank you.

I remember your last video and I understood some of Parisian's hesitation. I am so happy that Bobby convinced you to stay and that you soaked it all in! My home Los Angeles is next and I'm definitely not going to give into the scare campaign of the crowds or traffic! It's going to have its problems, but its definitely going to be worthwhile to stay and enjoy this international event :D

This summer will be remembered by the rain in Paris ! We went to the French Open (Roland-Garros) as tourists in 28.May.2024 when we arrived in, it was raining ! I thought the May may be raining and reckoned that late July would be free from rain in Paris but no, even in late July when the Olympics are starting out it's raining again But let me tell you, Paris is still nice and memorable with the rain too.

Do you think that more French people could have stayed and not been affected since outside of the Olympic area it’s very quiet?
@kovie91624 ай бұрын
I'll probably never attend an Olympics unless it's where I happen to live at the time. The closest I've come was when the winter games were held in Vancouver when I lived in Seattle. It's close enough that in theory I could have gone for the day and returned that night, but it would have been overwhelming, especially the border crossing, so I didn't. This seems like fun since it's literally in the city that you live in. It would be crazy to not try to see at least a little of it when you're there. I try to see some of the US Open every year, during the qualifying week preceding the official Open, when it's free but you can still see some high quality professional tennis. In fact the beach volleyball stadium looks a lot like some of the newer US Open stadiums. Only, it had a somewhat nicer backdrop. 😊

Was the rest of the city operating as normal? Were shops, cafes, museums and restaurants still open? If so it might be interesting to visit at this time as while I have a great interest in seeing Paris but I have no desire to see the Olympics.

Lucile I am curious how the Olympics have affected local Paris businesses? You showed very empty neighbourhoods. Do the tourists go there after events? I am just concerned about small businesses being disaffected due to the intense security for the Olympics.

I’ve been watching the Olympics but only for my team (Team USA of course) and for the Women’s Basketball 3x3 team. Sadly, the first 3 games they lost but they’ve won the last 2 games….so I’m hoping that they can win some more because one of the athletes has received so much hate this year. So she needs this win more than anything.

Fingers crossed!! We’re also rooting for team USA (and team France) at home :)

@@LucileHRI watched the opening ceremony on tv and I personally loved it especially John Lennon’s “Imagine” being played….it made me tear up. Also, the only bad part was that my favorite athlete on that team, actually got sick during the opening because of the rain yet despite the first 3 losses she still outplayed her teammates.

I don’t say this to be offensive because I love your channel but these Olympic Games were a disgrace. From the distasteful opening ceremony (I had nightmares with that beheaded Marie Antoinette) to the logistics, there are multiple reports from our delegation all over media about the terrible living conditions, the boiling buses, the time it took them to get to the arena and the lack of suitable food. Some of our athletes had to leave the Olympic village and go book hotel rooms so they could have AC and adequate, high protein meals.. It doesn’t look like a lot of fun for the locals either.
@LucileHR4 ай бұрын
I don’t have the same experience but I welcome people who have different opinions of course! :)

@@LucileHR We are all very fond of our swimmer golden boy and everyone was upset and outraged hearing that they had to move because of the living and transport conditions and so did the S Koreans. The athletes’ expefiences are obviously different from a local’s but I didn’t understand why would the organizers provide no AC in the rooms and on the buses during a heat wave and why force athletes to go vegan for 1/3rd of their meals. 😳
@surlespasdondine4 ай бұрын
Well the AC in rooms/homes is just not something we really know here in Western Europe.
@minime73754 ай бұрын
@@surlespasdondine I’m in Eastern Europe and we do have AC in many homes, I’m surprised to hear Western Europe doesn’t. You do in most hotels and B&Bs. And for sure the athletes’ accomodations and buses should’ve had AC.

I'm here for the olympics and was expecting a happier atmosphere-- something similar to Athens 2004 or London 2012. The french are excited about their own team, but somewhat uninterested in the Olympic spirit as a whole. On top of that , the social and political situation does not add up.
