The video suddenly cuts out before Delar could answer the audience member's question. A college student in his town house accidentally clicked on another video in the sidebar on a rather popular video streaming site. He straightens his posture as if he's coming out of a daze and thinks about what he just watched. From the subway romance to the futuristic creation of conscious art, the Pursuit of Wonder in the student is temporarily satiated as his imagination soars on a small high. He wonders briefly whether he is in fact simulated with artificial thoughts and feelings. This idea puts him on edge for a few seconds before he realizes that this was exactly the point of the video. He realizes that like Descartes most famous quote: "I think, therefore I am," a similar truth can be found "I feel, therefore I am real." As cliche as a rhyming proverb is, there is some meaning behind it. After all, if one can feel experiences that seem real to them, then does it matter if they aren't? A belief many scientists and philosophers alike hold is that: if you cannot tell the difference between two things, then they are effectively the same thing. As the young man cannot tell the difference between what he experiences and what he would imagine to be a simulated version of these experiences, he assumes they are interchangeable and it doesn't really matter either way. Suddenly, the world goes dark, completely black as if all energy has suddenly been removed. There's a split second between the observation of everything around him disappearing from existence and the student's own erasure where he realizes how wrong his conclusion was and how-

@@naaberfindmoi2791 it's a play on the famous quote from the philosopher Decartes. "I think, therefore I am" basically means that the only thing you can be absolutely certain about is that there is 'something' (you can call that something 'you') thinking. So that means that you 'have' to exist because you can't deny the fact that you are thinking (because denying that fact would also require you to think). I keep telling people what I learned when I was in my suicidal phase - "There's no point in killing yourself, because you're going to wake up in another body, and there will be doctors saying "that baseball must have hit them hard"." I'm implying that life is so mysterious. If energy does transfer as so we are being taught then birth isn't what we think it is. It's not a beginning, and death isn't an end. And seeing as how much of life gets forgotten unless recorded, there's a lot of mystery behind the idea of now. Because there's no actual now. When you focus on what's happening you realize there's no passage of time. Things are just happening. Nothing segues from one moment to another. However, if you look at past, present, and future you see the frames of time. One moment connecting to another moment in a causation situation. There's seemingly a supertask required to get to something on the smallest level, yet things are still able to progress as if there isn't an infinite amount of things happening to have one frame of time move to the next frame of time. If I step, all the atoms in me are vibrating and doing things required to have me complete my step. It's clearly an endless path on exploring inwards, and outwards. Yet somehow things are able to "move through time". Time is too illusionary, but seeing life as completely stationary is what? You got it, absurd. There's no such thing as absolutes, yet we can absolutely see the things in life. The black and white of life never ends, yet the understanding of the grey in life helps create balance and understanding. Thus... an ending. Life is chaotic. Anything can be anything. Life is order. What we see are objective things being experienced subjectively. Absolutes don't exist, yet they do. Life is so annoying oh my goodness!! Like trying to figure it out is so annoying. But guess what? When you don't try things just fall into place and start making sense. It's literally like "believe your doubts". Life wild.
@Proud_Knight4 жыл бұрын
While I was reading this I was thinking "Bruh, what?" right up until the end. "Life wild" wrapped that up like a little ribbon with a tag telling you what's inside. I had this weird as hell dream where I was on a mission to go to, I'm not sure if the center the universe or on the outside of the universe, and as me and my teammates were headed there I just remember that I think the universe was about to just end, not sure how we found out but all we knew was that we had to go to our destination. After an intense af running from the universe, facing some casualties along the way that cost the lives of many of my mates, I'm pretty sure I was alone at this point and i finally reached the destination. I was happy cause I wasn't gonna die and because this was what all this was about, getting here but then I quickly realized, what the hell is the point anymore, I'm at a white void that's just filled with nothing, nothing to see, nothing to hear, no one to talk to, just pure and absolute nothing. I started crying, incredibly cause now I just missed my family and I knew now that there is no possibility of going back cause the universe is dead, so I slept then woke up feeling so depressed so lonely so sad and just so much. Idk it was one of my most fucked up dreams solely because I ended up being completely alone and that feeling just sinking in slowly was just awful. Idk I just typed it out here cause I suddenly remembered it.

This is the question that ties my brain into knots. I tried a thought experiment once where I mentally went to the edge of the universe. I went to the object that is farthest away from the start of the big bang, then I kept going. I wondered, does it go on forever? I mean it can't just "stop". If there were some type of wall or barrier, wouldn't something need to exist on the other side? I don't think I have the words to describe why the universe being infinite cannot happen either. The best I can do is to say that an obsever's position is meaningless in an infinite universe. The same kinda applies for time. Time not having an end isn't so odd, but it having a beginning is. There would still be a "before" but it can't go backwards for infinity either. I think those are two things will never have a satisfacrory answer, at least not with the brains we have now.
