I ponder about several issues raised in this podcast. Thanks for the answers. I didn't know about Montessori until recently but it has caught my interest every time ever since and I have learned a lot about it. I have also pondered why it did because I am the typical child who had a lot of dread for schooling and homework, but mostly smart at the same time. This is especially the case for many Nigerian children. As you said, the "why" never dies and that's exactly true for me from childhood up until now as an adult ( even though it's more difficult to question things and notions as an adult) to the extent that as a child, I had a nickname: questionnaire! But a lot of things resonate with me with typical Montessori experiences like this and I think the reason is because of my vast childhood experience (mostly by chance and not choice). For example, living with my grandmother in rural Nigeria, I was involved with a lot of hands-on life experience such as growing, harvesting, and processing or cooking my own food at the young age of 6. At the age of 4, my mother gave me a chore to water the flowers before I prepared for school; and so on. I have also come to find out that most of what is said to be Montessori principles is an everyday experience for a normal west African kid. Thanks for sharing your story!

My daughter is 3 years and she's been attending Montessori; was wondering how long I should continue. And came across this podcast.

And I don’t think her age answers that question. Every time she starts to explain things he interrupts her. I cringe when he repeats obvious comments.

Montessori only lasts through early childhood or the child can continue up until what it would be high school and go to college?
