As Bishop Barron says, we believe in the resurrection of the body... At the same time, I can't help but recall what was said on Ash Wednesday- "remember you are dust, and from dust you shall return" (as we receive the ashes)....
@wardjaeger89549 ай бұрын
Indeed, this is part of the curse of Original Sin that we inherit as human beings (Genesis 3:19). We say these words on Ash Wednesday to become painfully aware of our sinfulness. Lent is the season where we clothe ourselves is sackcloth and ashes, like the people of Nineveh, in order to repent of our sins. But the liturgical calendar does not stay in Lent. “The wages of sin are death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). We would have “returned to dust” in our sin, but Jesus’ death and resurrection have actually gained for us a life even after death. That is why Easter is the Solemnity of solemnities, because we celebrate the immensity of God’s love which gives an eternal life we could never have achieved on our own. All that remains is to accept our place in the heavenly banquet, even in the present moment. Happy Easter season! Christ is risen, alleluia!

I would like to Bishop Barron to discuss in depth "the end of time." I do not think what is in the bible about the end of time is what most people today think it means. It supposedly means God presiding over a just earth now, God's kingdom on earth being actualised. Okay, if I am correct, why has not that happened by now?? Jesus died over 2K years ago. I am nearing the end of my own life. How many believers have lived and died now? At what point is "the end of time" arriving??

@@3Hypostasis1God Yes the Bible explains that the soul sleeps for the flesh is dead, and the flesh cannot be raised into heaven (1 Corin. 15:50). Have you ever read 1 Corinthians Chapter 15? 1 Corin. 15:35-36 that which is dead cannot be quickened but by the spirit, which is given to you in the time of the resurrection, (Proverbs 1:23/Ezekiel 39:29/Zechariah 12:10) 1 Peter 3:18. For the flesh is corruptible and you must be raised incorruptible which means without flesh 1 Corin. 15:37 (John 3:6) 1 Corin. 15:53-54. If you are saying that the flesh is raised again then that would be your second death (why would God make you die twice if you are just?) The spirit of a human being departs the body when the body dies. Those spirits in Christ go to be with Him in Paradise awaiting happily and consciously the resurrection of their bodies. This is what Christianity has taught since Apostolic times. This is what the Bible teachesl. Your misinterpretation of the verses you cite are clouded by a false interpretation of Soul sleep.

@@Proverbs-uw3ng The righteous by Christ do not die twice. The waiting place of righteous spirits who left their dead bodies wait happily and consciously in Paraadise until the resurrection whn both body and spirit enter heaven. Love this topic and so well presented; however, at least for me, the explanation did not directly answer the title question of what happens to us when we die. Rather, it does wonderfully answer the question what happens when we are resurrected. I hope you will consider doing an important post-script on this homily addressing what happens to us between death and our resurrection. Thank you, Bishop Barron, for teaching on so many important matters of our faith.

I used to give Bishop Barron a hard time in my own heart. It wasn't until I realized that an army needs all sorts. I was holding him up to an impossible standard. I was expecting him to be the general, fighter pilot, door-to-door marine and demolitions expert all put together. That doesn't exist in reality, and once I started appreciated him for what he does well it all became much easier.

Thank you Bishop Barron for your articulation of the hopes and dreams of our faith. I pray that the hope you speak of resonates with all those listening today and we can live our lives acting it out - and ultimately influencing others.

Wow. Bishop Barron has this ability to render me speechless, in a state of pondering, reflection and meditation. He opens up the Scriptures and puts them in a historical context that, I find, allows me to meditate on these events as the real, historical events that they are. I find myself able to imagine myself there, and as such, delve deeper into the Mysteries of our Beautiful Faith. Sometimes to the point of tears. Thank you Bishop Barron for answering God's daily call to evangelize and bring the Truth to all of us in such a clear and loving way. And Peace be with you, too! 🕊️✝️🙏🏼

You said "JESUS SHOWS HIS ''WOMBS' instead of ''Wounds' ...... And that's the nicest thing I can say about or to Baron. As a seventy plus NY Catholic Foundling ...... I don't buy into BS easily ......

I love Bp.Baron. He is so mediocre. But I guess that that's why so many people love him. Also, his organization, Word on Fire, sponsors and supports many worthy initiatives. Initiatives that are beyond his own capacity. God bless him.
