Excellent video! Thank you for shedding some light on the Department of Homeland Security, as it is usually overlooked or frown upon by mainstream media. Minor Note: Even though briefly mentioned, Homeland Security's mission to mitigate and recover from natural disasters is a huge part of their core missions today, ever increasing its important since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Homeland Security does have an Intelligence aparatus but is not considered apart of the Intelligence community and the Coast Guard is the only member of DHS apart of the intelligence community within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). A federation formed after 9/11 to consolidate 16 U.S. Intelligence agencies ranging from financial, cyber, military, law enforcement, and geo-spatial intelligence. DHS intelligence in other agencies like ICE and CBP even among its own employees has regarded most of its intelligence as "garbage" and "Nothing you couldn't find in a normal google search". The Department of Justice (FBI, DEA, National Security Division) has far more experience in intelligence gathering and fulfills a similar mission.

FEMA’s help on Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria which was a category 5 was almost non-existent. Irma which was way less catastrophic received tons of help while I was without electricity for a couple of months. It really annoys me, we being part of the country and don’t getting that much help.

the homeland security has helped, but the best defense is still mental warfare; a great example of this is japan did not want to attack the main us during the second world war, because in there words "there will be a gun behind every blade of grass"; basically the second amendment prevented them from attacking by scaring them
@tifaahmed89886 жыл бұрын
James Shaw and yet some people want to repeal the 2nd amendment .
@jamesshaw35006 жыл бұрын
i also had a second point, that terrorism is more about scare tactics, than it is actually causing damage; for example the stuka siren
@jamesshaw35006 жыл бұрын
that is not mainland us, there is san diego harbor, and seattle harbor that were valuable targets, that the japanese never attacked; the modern day us naval hq is san diego; and seattle is where they upgraded the enterprise; japans #1 taget
@GRANOLA776 жыл бұрын
That's a ridiculous idea. I'm not against guns per se but to think that's why the Japanese never tried to attack the mainland is absolutely absurd. They did try unsuccessfully because they had an Aleutian island campaign, limited submarine warfare in the western coast, and also launched balloons with bombs that killed 6 civilians. They never did anything more serious because 1. Not enough resources e.g. oil to send troops, supplies, naval forces all the way to the Pacific AND keep the supply chains going 2. Controlling/invading the US was never the objective of the Japanese Empire 3. Not enough troops because their population was too low to keep control of the occupied Asian territories AND simultaneously attack mainland USA. So in conclusion they didn't attack the mainland because it was an unrealistic goal. NOT because of the 2nd amendment. And also in the 40's no one owned the type of weapons necessary to deter a Jap invasion. Small arms like hunting rifles, pistols, and shotguns wouldn't have made the difference
@GRANOLA776 жыл бұрын

@4204-j4x6 жыл бұрын
Warme Worst They also had intel on Pearl Harbor and again did nothing about it, what they both had in common ? They both gave America a excuse to join/start a war. The uk has cars being used as weapons but that is a car and you can't monitor every single one, but they have not had their own Aeroplanes hijaked that should not and does not happen in first world countries like ourselves, you expect that in 3rd world countries.

The worst thing about DHS is they're so focused on security the emergency management stuff falls through the cracks. I'm an emergency manager and I do a lot more than just think about security. I write plans, network with communities, and I am in charge of an emergency operations center when disasters happen - which they do! It's so much more than just security, although I know security is important too.

All the hundreds of billions we have spent on counter terrorism have probably only saved a few thousand lives.
