Even though Ryder was a pain. Seeing him and his surroundings you can't help but feel sorry for the guy. Even CJ was in disbelief and the fact that Ryder didn't even shoot at CJ must mean he cares about CJ actually but knew he was screwed when he was caught with the ballas. I believe it's another big bear situation. Big Smoke is just keeping him high as another soldier to fall when things go wrong.
