I suspect it's one of those things that Larian originally planned to give to multiple (all?) companions as many of them do also have chairs/stools at their tents, but they only had time to do Shadowheart's before the rest got cut. It wasn't in the game at release, but in one of the later patches Larian added it in so I'm guessing it was a "Yeah, may as well just chuck it in there." decisions before Larian moved on to other projects.

I wish all the companions had something like this! Maybe not even necessarily a chair - that would get old after a while, if it was every companion - but some unique item in their camp that if you interact with, they’d have unique dialogue about it. I tried to sit in Astarion’s chair, and… nothing 😅
