I think you cant continue once you go up is because flowey made the broken switch and wanted you to fall. But since you came back up Flowey quickly "Fixed" the timeline be reseting it before you got the chance to continue. Because flowey is very tired of seeing the same run over and over again

Yeah, probably accurate since Flowey doesn’t want you to live with Toriel as every single ending without Flowey is where you live with Toriel, so Flowey take Peres with the timeline to make sure you don’t live with Toriel.
