That's not too far from the plot of National Lampoon's DOON. It's a very clever parody of the novel, as Pall Mauve'Bib seeks justice for the actions of the Emperor Shaddup IV and Baron Hardchargin'. But can Pall and his mother survive the hostile sugars of Arruckis and the giant pretzels that live there?

The poison in the contraceptives that Irulan put in her food meant that during her pregnancy she had to basically overdose on spice to carry to term. That resulted in her metabolism speeding up to the point that the pregnancy itself killed her. That overdose is why the twins are Pre-Born, with adult consciousness in infant bodies, like Alia.

@@matthewlambermon-southam4418 1. High tech is BANNED per law in this universe thanks to the Great Jihad (wich was basicaly a war AI vs Humans) 2. Even with it its DIFFICULT! And given most people back when herbert wrote it did not know about this stuff either, who could blame em? Same for Star Wars. It was pre written prior to us having the tech and proper doctors to safe someone like that.

I think in Villenuve's vision for Dune: Messiah, Chani may become part of the conspiracy against Paul acting as a double agent by regaining his trust and pretending to be his concubine while gaining information that would lead to his downfall. She might be reluctant at first since at the end she vowed to fight for her people, but will get a tragic reward in the end.

I think that a movie based on Dune: Messiah that serves as a sequel to Dune: Part 2 needs to happen. The first two were great so make a third one that makes a trilogy. A Dune Serie is coming in late 2024 on Max featuring Emily Watson and Mark Strong so there are more projects in the Dune franchise.

That one is based on the nuDune crap by Brian and Kevin, and takes place millennia before Dune itself. It's their way of making it clear to everyone how much they don't understand about the Butlerian Jihad and the fact that the Bene Gesserit were around and trying to breed the Kwisatz Haderach well before the Jihad.

Chani wont be skeptical of pauls prophecy anymore. In pt2 jessica completely manipulated chani with the voice into participating in the water of life ritual to resuscitate paul out of the coma. Jessica knowing full well that paul was going to convert the poison anyways because of his benegeserit training did this because chani’s action would appear to be “as written” in the prophecy that was actually made up by the benegeserit. This made chani question her previous hesitations towards the fundamentalist fremen prophecy and now more align with the fundamentalists. This isnt only true for her, but also the audience of skeptic fremen who were there that day and relayed the story to their other skeptic friends, thus consequently converting the fremen to pauls side for a completely infallible jihad

As a huge huge Herbert book purist I understand why certain changes were made and in my view they made parts 1 and 2 feel more relevant Messiah will have to address Time jump Chani’s pregnacy and death Alia knowing stuff due to Water of Life Iliana’s attempts to kill Chani

Dune Messiah could really work as a fitting conclusion to the trilogy if it was done in the style of Sicario, where not much actually happens, but the tension, uncertainty and personal conflict are always present.

I wish Denis would combine during Messiah and children of Dune. Because when you think about it, OK, at the end of Dune Messiah, Paul walk into the desert, blind and alone. But he’s not dead yet. He hast to set the way for Leto to take the golden path. Then he dies.

exactly my thoughts. I mean, the miniseries combined them in abt 4.5 hrs. with some cutting, it could get to Return of the KIng length and REALLY finish Paul`s and Alia`s arcs with a bang.

They could, but I think it’s more likely they’ll show a lot of the actual war brought on by Paul’s decision. My hope is we get dual plots from both the war era and the aftermath plot more directly tied to the story of the books where an older cast represents Paul and crew.

Being a great entertainment, “Dune” also showed us the concern about the civilizational limits at that time. However, we have IT & AI improving wealth creation & distribution plus human abilities & cooperation. The original author neutralized political & religious issues with ingenious settings & tragic development. The director will make a more humane, hopeful, and informative movie adaptation for the 21st century.

Dune Messiah Part One should have Paul now becoming the messianic like figure across the Universe with him seeing visions of an evil antagonistic God like figure who seems to be a giant worm with a human like torso. The antagonistic supervillain even speaks to him as Paul thinks 🤔 this figure is the scourge of the Galaxy only for him to call Paul "father" and its Leto II communicating with him into the future. Paul is confused 😕 Leto II brings peace and unity to the galaxy by transforming himself into The Abomination so that The Houses can be united forever as Leto II turns himself into the bane of the Universe..Harkonian, Saduka, Freman are all united together under one banner against the God-worm Leto II

Reason: The name of the hero Paul (saint Paul wrote bible right? Actually thinking and reasoning things out are apparently hard in the social media era. I read the novels back in the early/mid-'80s, and it was over 20 years before I found Dune forums online where we could discuss the books. There were some incredible discussions about so many aspects of the books. Sadly most of those sites are gone now. So many insights just zapped.

@@RumRomeo-mu2up I think Peter Dinklage should play Bijazz. He was the one actor I pictured when I reread Messiah. If they age up the characters, Vanessa Kirby would work as an older Irulan (keyword: IF!). Speaking of if, they gotta include the Spacing Guild. Oh and cast Aiden Gillian (yes Littlefinger himself) as Otheym. Or even Burn Gorman. That guy is a total redflag in almost every role he plays!
