Respectfully, please read Matthew 24 in it’s entirety. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Messiah was speaking about two events that must occur, PRIOR to His return. Keeping the scriptures in context, He mentioned the great falling away (apostasy) and revealing of the anti-christ (abomination of desolation). Since this clearly occurs in the middle of the seven year peace treaty, and begins the GREAT tribulation (last 3.5 years), many pre-tribulation rapture scholars “claim” the fig tree Jesus used in reference to knowing seasons meant Israel. This is not true. Jesus said exactly what He meant! He reminded us of the fig tree as an analogy for understanding seasons. Those who saw the above two events take place (apostasy and abomination of desolation), THAT GENERATION WOULD NOT PASS before his return. The Apostle Paul also referenced this exact same thing in reminding the early Church not to believe anyone claiming that Christ had already returned because the great apostasy and abomination of desolation (clearly revealing the lawless one) had not taken place! This puts a serious FLAW in the pre-tribulation rapture doctrine! Jesus clearly mentioned what two things must occur before his return and the Apostle Paul. Pre-tribulation rapture teachers try and spin this by taking references of Israel as a fig tree in earlier text and applying to Matthew 24 in order to make their pre-tribulation theory a bit more believable. Why would Jesus and Paul reference a Second Coming event if there was a return planned prior to that? Think about what the Apostle’s asked Jesus in Matthew 24 and how Jesus replied! He never mentioned nor referred to multiple returns, only one. Using the pre-tribulation rapture belief, you have to assume that Jesus skipped this pre-tribulation rapture when asked about His return and instead spoke of one after that. That makes no sense, nor did Jesus, Paul, John, or anyone else EVER make such a claim until Darby in the 1830s. Personally, I believe this pre-tribulation teaching will help fuel the great apostasy! I believe many Christians will abandon the faith when the anti-christ is revealed and WE are all still here. Some will believe the lies told by the anti-christ because a rapture hasn’t occurred. They will immediately be faced with fleeing, getting beheaded, or accepting the mark.
