My Aunt committed suicide in 1973 and the Church refused to bury her in the Churches cemetery. I was just a small girl and she was my favorite Aunt. She was very troubled and on medicines we now know increases these ideations. I try to always remember her throughout my day and pray. I love you Aunt Katherine and I pray you're in heaven now, God willing you're at peace with Jesus.

I have been praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory for some years now. Recently (maybe several months) it has been put on my heart to pray for certain groups: 1. My family, ancestors, friends, acquaintances......2. priests and other clergy. 3. unborn babies. Babies, children, teenagers. 4. those who died by suicide.

For all intents and purposes i committed suicide and was in a coma for three days. I at that time suffered from depression and anxiety. I would never do that now but the evil spirits sometimes have a heyday within my mind and heart. I have to be very diligent not to accept evil temptations and not to even get close to evil thoughts. My life has been greatly affected by this past act but I know the Lord left me here for His purposes and I think of that when I think about my past. Praise God for his love and mercy! He is good, all the time!!!

I’m not a theologian, but I work in psych and I have studied suicide extensively. Normal thinking cannot be projected onto those who are dealing with the sort of pain that leads to suicidal ideation and action. There is plenty of room for mercy when mental illness and such distorted perceptions and ideas are in play. Pray hard for those who endure such pain, that they may know happiness in the next life.

My brother, who had struggled with alcoholism for decades, committed suicide in 2021. It just devastated his siblings, we would have done anything to help him. I had 30 Masses said for his soul, and I pray the Seven Sorrows Rosary every day for his soul. I grieve him every day. PLEASE, if you have suicidal thoughts, reach out and get help, I guarantee there are people in your life who love you. Your depression and sadness just aren't letting you see it.

My dads father committed suicide September 8 1974. My dad died August 19 2023. the day before my dad died, I was getting him back to bed from the bathroom. As I walked my dad back to his bedroom, I saw my grandfathers face, he was looking at both me and my dad. Im quite sure that he is in Heaven and was allowed to be with the other souls coming to get my dad.

I had a high school friend that committed suicide in February of 2023. It came as a complete shock. Despite the fact that we hadn't really spoken since graduation nearly 9 years prior, I was heartbroken over it and wept. Still, I was able to go to his funeral. Now I pray for him as often as I remember. Suicide very nearly touched my family when I was young. I didn't learn until years after that my sister had attempted it when we were children. People who get into this headspace are deeply hurting and I'm glad that there is finally some good sense coming about these situations.

As a teen I tried to minister to Dicky James he was an alcoholic he took his life not long after with a revolver . I never forgot his unhappiness. The demons taunting him so horrendous . I was living with a Jewish family Steven was a college student came back home was on meds after he saw the shrink he would go in the den which was my study room. Become violent very frightening. He had siblings twins 10 a lad Richard 4 what a wonderful boy. My point he did not want bagels in the oven picked up the chair threw it it hit me I ran to the bathroom . My dad died in April so I was not there which I’m thankful…..he slit his wrist s his poor mom. He recovered and went on to become psychologist . All my life I’ve been in prayer for the depressed my mission . I’m older now I have a knowledge I always remind people never ever judge this person show them compassion. Blessings ❤❤

my daughter's friend's daughter who just graduated this June attempted suicide yesterday, and I was thinking of her a few days ago! her name came to my mind briefly. I have had 3 of my own children attempt suicide, one at 9 years old! It is a cry for help, and it is something they were not taught to be able to have confidence to go to God. My children do not attend church, and when they were little, they were very reluctant and were very stubborn about going to church. Children do not tell their parents they are going to or thinking about suicide. The guilt we all experienced and all the division it created in our family was very very strong and effective. The devil is busy and strong!

I beg your pardon if I suggest you to write to Fr Daniel Rehill or Fr Carl's Martin or Mns Stephen Rossetti and write about what's going in your family, I listened to them saying that when in a family there are frequent cases of suicide, abortion or divorce it's a matter maybe of something that's going on in the genealogical tree and maybe has to be solved or fixed and maybe the person who has to do it is you. Maybe you already did this so don't mind my personal suggestion, God bless you and your family

The husband of my mother commited suicide. He was struggling with mental illness and alcoholism. My mother had several dreams about him afterwards, where he came to her and told her that he must "work" now to pay for what he did. After that he was picked up by the holy mother and as they walked away, he became smaller and smaller, until he became a child.

Thank you for that story. I keep hearing that purgatory is just painful fire that purifies. This has never made sense to me. I can understand the intense fire of desire for God for sure. I am starting to believe we have to learn and heal n Purgatory what we did not in this life. I wonder if people relieve certain situations and have to learn to respond as Jesus would not just with actions but from within? I could be wrong, but your story made me wonder some more about that aspect of purgatory. Thank you
@coolcatbaron
@coolcatbaron 24 күн бұрын
@@Seekingwisdom2322 According to Maria Simma, the mystic also presented in this video, as well as the seers of Medjugorje, the suffering of purgatory is not equal for everyone. There are layers in purgatory similar to how Dante described it in his Divine Comedy. There are some other mystics that had visions that the majority of people who die go to hell, while others would appoint the majority to purgatory. This supposed contradiction in mystics who were declared saints by the church would always bother me, but I think I now understand how the contradiction can be resolved. Now this is my opinion only, but I think that the vast majority of people go to purgatory, but unfortunately because of their grave sins for which they might have never really done sufficient penance for, they go to the section of purgatory, which is closest to the sufferings of hell. So what mystics saw that assigned most people that ever lived in hell, is basically the section of purgatory that is basically like hell and in their visions they thought it was indeed hell. So rather than the mystics with the pessimistic view being liars, they just gave a description of what they saw instead of a correct interpretation. We know from St. Thomas Aquinas that God is simple. So His love and justice are basically one. Purgatory, although painful, is part of His mercy and justice against our committed sins, which we weren't fully contrite of. So as I have mentioned the suffering of purgatory is horrible, because falling into the hands of a just God is horrible, as scripture says. However, so is His mercy. Don't despair about purgatory, because from St. Faustyna we know how quickly a long sentence in purgatory can be avoided, by just being sincere to our Lord. The holy mother also said in Medjugorje that it is possible for a person to be very evil for their whole life, do a sincere confession at the end of it, take the Eucharist and then go to heaven directly. St. Therese of Liseux would even scorn her sisters that would fear purgatory and assume that Jesus wants them to get through it. Doing sufficient penance is not about repaying our evil deeds to God as He would be a debt collector. It's about showing that we are sorry and by showing that we are truly sorry, we also show real gratitude and by showing real gratitude, we receive God's grace, which is fully undeserved on our part. A lack of trust in God's love and mercy, is probably the worse enemy that leads people to purgatory or even hell. Because with Him everything is possible. When it comes to mental illnesses I don't think that we are necessarily cleansed by pain in purgatory. Oftentimes mental illness arises because we weren't given the love we needed. I think the healing for that is God's quickening love. Nevertheless within mental illnesses we might have a weakened and distorted will, but we are still culpable for sins, even though the sentence for them might be lighter.

I had been thinking about my Aunts brother randomly a week or two ago and he committed suicide as well. I hadn’t thought much about if he was in purgatory or anything. The next day my mom mentioned his funeral to my sister in some anecdotal comment, a coincidence it seemed, and it made me think a bit. I asked God that if this was a sign that her brother is in purgatory then if He gave me one more sign that I knew was related to him then I would know he needed prayers and was in Purgatory and then I would know he was there. I saw this video and read the comments not thinking of him at all, but then I had an infused realization about him! This must be the 3rd sign! I pray now I will be able to figure out how to help him accordingly because he was not a Mass goer. Thank you Alvaro!

Have an aunt who committed suicide. The little I know says she was on verge of losing apartment, despite so much hard work she wasn't getting a much-needed job offer, preferred trying to be a movie guru, and eventually she despaired and shot herself in the head. Yes, she had received a ton of encouragement to do the right thing. Sadly, sounds she was more convinced she wouldn't make it unless had control over the outcome. Listened to the devil, and killed herself rather than trust it all in Jesus. Know a funeral Mass and all offered for her as soon as family got the news. No, I do not believe she could've gone to Heaven upon dying. Nobody who suicides is ready to share eternal happiness with Jesus; destroying your body is a sin. Despair is a sin. Choosing to forgo growing in holiness, His invitation, and so on *is* a sin. Yes, extenuating circumstances, and He takes it all into account--however, suicided souls go to Purgatory or Hell.

As long as there is life there is hope that somehow things will get better. It’s horribly hard right now for you. You don’t see any way out but to end your life. Don’t let the devil win. Ask daily for hope and strength from God. He is always with you, though at times He seems far away. Get through one day at a time. Seek out the prison chaplain, hopefully there is a nearby priest who visits prisons. Read the Bible and keep on praying. Know that many strangers are praying for you and your loved ones.

As you say it depends. My wife and I bought our house from a widow and over some years from a feeling of the basement being haunted it became apparent that the husband had committed suicide, later confirmed by a neighbour. It was like in Greek mythology of souls carried across the River Styx he had arrived at the river by suicide and there was no boatman there to ferry him across, which added to his resentment of her. I established a relationship of understanding of him and then walked with him on a journey of forgiveness of his wife meaning passing her over to Our Lord, and his pain. Then I prayed for angels to come to him, he had been a Navy officer so specifically prayed for ex-Navy angels to come to him, "no man left behind". And prayed for Jesus to be there to receive him to His bosom. My wife, who had sensed him, said he had gone.

Suicide is never the answer. God does not desire for a soul to commit self murder. This act not only affects the life of the victim, but everyone the victim is connected with and everyone that God had prepared for this person to meet and every work that God had prepared. We must remember that God is both merciful and just. Suicide prevention is a greater outcome than surmising how such a soul will be judged. Some souls who fell into grave sin may not receive God’s mercy without the redemptive suffering of others. This is why we can never take our salvation or any one else’s for granted. For some to be saved, we may be required to suffer for them in this life to offer reparation for their sins. As Our Lady said, many souls go to Hell because there’s no one to pray and make sacrifices for them.

Something to think about: NPD is formed as a response to trauma. God will be merciful and understanding in all cases. We can never know who goes to heaven or hell.

Could you talk about what happens to the soul of someone who is outside the church and dies not receiving the sacraments? For example our brothers and sisters in the Protestant churches.

ST. POPE JOHN PAUL II: “By forgiving his executioners, Jesus showed he is not the accuser of the guilty but rather their advocate and intercessor. Jesus’ words of forgiveness - “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do” - were spoken in circumstances of the greatest hatred and cruelty. Jesus forgives His adversaries immediately, even as their hostility continues. Jesus is the defender, not the accuser of the guilty, because He knows that many can be less guilty than it appears, or one thinks. For this reason, he taught his followers not to judge others. The mercy Jesus asked for His executioners is extended to all humanity.”
