Thanks. I just see them eating things that are meant to go with other foods, that they get their most delicious taste, imo. But alone... not so flavorful... So I figured I would propose sponsoring a "typical" meal from the United States - midwest area... We have had this often, also, hoping if/when meat $$ and inflation world wide both stabilize, maybe they can have for a special meal now and then, as meatloaf is fairly economical, generally for a meat diash and how much one gets.

Your recipes are usually quite accurate but this one looks EXACTLY like what a grandmother somewhere in the Mid-West would make on a cold winter's day. The Ketchup glaze is perfectly done.

It's exactly what my mother used to make for us here in Ohio, not more than 1-2x a month, but it was in the rotation. Sides were more likely green beans, but they had difficulty getting those, so we switched it up w/ corn.

Meatloaf is great. While I don't make it, I do order it now and then at restaurants that serve it. Don't know why some people hate on meatloaf. I think it's great. But, I know some people can't stand it, for whatever reason...

I think that their potatoes may be a tad more starchy than our russets so they came out thicker than mine do, but at about 1:16, the producer tells them "butter bath corn" and "Creamed potatoes"... tho I agree they look like kinda thick, lumpy mashed potatoes. It's creamed potatoes it does have the same ingredients, but slightly different proportions on ingredients. But they seem to have loved them, so .

It is very common for big families. Green peas is included with meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn on cob in my family dinner routine. I haven’t make meatloaf for ages since I graduated from college. 🤤 meatloaf ❤

Most people I know prefer corn boiled for just the right amount of time. Many people have BBq corn before. I think the major grievance is that it dries it out, compromises the texture.

Corn can be made in microwave, seal in freezer bag with a tiny drop of butter or oil and some salt, microwave on high for 3 minutes per cob.

Well, it was supposed to be w/ green beans instead of corn, initially, but the creator of the channel was having difficulty tracking down any green beans. Apparently they do not have canned green beans available at stores, just fresh when they are in season, and it's winter there now too. :(

Meatcake! LOL That is an apt description, actually! We also make a "mincemeat" pie which includes raisins (It is a sweet pie that contains meat) Mincemeat curry? Yes, please! If there is meatloaf left over, we slice it into sandwiches! (or wrap in roti)

Food is expensive here too. Many of us share apartments or houses in order to be able to afford to pay for all our bills. I usually eat chicken since beef is more expensive. It is a treat to get ribs or anything thing other than chicken..

That is a common meal in the US. I would say someone in the US has that on the table right now ...that's how common it is ...glad they enjoyed it .and meat is very expensive here too... For a few pounds is about 6$ to 10$..

Looks delicious! I've heard some people really hate meatloaf.I just can't understand why. Unless they have some specific ground beef aversion or something. It's delicious! Generally ground meat with chopped onion mixed in, with some spices. Can't recall if a little bit of egg is added as a binder or something? Or maybe breadcrumbs?

Looks great, although eating mutton is very uncommon in the United States. I believe it was or perhaps is still currently banned in the United States.

@Chasing your Family Tree Mutton (sheep over 1 year old) is banned in the US, but young sheep or lamb (under 12-14 months old) is still very much legal. You'll find ground lamb, lamb chops or rack of lamb (tenderloin attached to rib bones) and stewing lamb, (sometimes called "lamb chuck") in just about every major grocery chain in America. I honestly don't know why mutton was banned in the first place. I tried looking it up, but could only find on a few websites where it said that it "went out of favor" after WWII because it was a very common meat in soldier's rations and many were tired of it. I just don't understand why I couldn't find any specific reason as to why it would be "legally" banned... just headlines saying that it was. Very odd. 🤷🏼‍♀️

in India and Pakistan mutton refers to goat not sheep. Sheep mutton was never banned. from the US dept of agriculture "The U.S. market for lamb and mutton meat has weakened throughout the decades. Since the 1960s, per capita consumption has dropped from nearly 5 pounds to just about 1 pound. This drop is due in part to declining acceptance of lamb from a growing segment of the population, as well as competition from other meats, such as poultry, pork, and beef. Most meat from sheep is sold as lamb and comes from animals under 14 months old. Mutton comes from older animals, and though often less expensive it is less desirable to consumers. U.S. lamb consumers prefer high-quality cuts such as legs and loins. Some of the lower quality, less desirable cuts go to the pet-food industry or are exported."

Well, usually we mix with pork, but they do not consume pork, so to get the same "feel" they instead used mutton to combine w/ the ground beef. It's a meat that is still familiar to them, but in a somewhat unfamiliar way (mixed w/ beef and the other ingredients). Not a perfect match, but it stays within their religious dictates and they liked it so.
