Years back if one had to go to the docks in London you neede to be there 5/6am log the papers for the load to be collected then queue. After that was the wait to be called for loading which could be all day. All stuff came off the ships on huge pallets through the warehouse to your truck for you to transfer to your own pallets. Sometimes the stevedores would offer to help by transferring some stuff inside the warehouse. One time I had to collect tinned pineapple chunks (about 1000 cases). On completion the stevedores were annoyed that I signed for the number of pallets and not the number of cases. When at the destination there was 20 classes missing, luckily I had signed for pallets, quantity unknown.

One thing I do not miss is the 4/5 am starts, especially in the winter or delivering to Iceland! Only worse thing about delivering to Iceland is working agency for them, or used to be. My record wait was three days or was it four, can'rt remember now it was so long ago, although that was to get loaded.

Question: do you have to put your taco card on “break” for those 4 hours? Or do you just put it on break for the same amount of time you would usually put it on break for? I ask because if you only put it on break for the normal amount of time I presume you get paid to just sit there. I understand where you’re coming from Luke with wanting to be kept busy but having a nice little snooze and perhaps watching a few KZbin videos while getting paid does sound very nice. Haha anyways that is for the video. Interesting insight 🤙🏻
@gary636934 жыл бұрын
You don't have to put it on break for all of those hours. You can put it on POA if you want, coz you are available for work. If your company deducts all of your breaks, then i would reset my driving time by taking a 45 and then i would put it back on other work and wait around
@gary636934 жыл бұрын
Also a note to remember, if you are going to work over 6 hours, then you would need to take another break, to reset your working time directive. This is why if you can, you should put it all on break, unless you know for definite that you will be finished within those 6 hours
