What Happens When You Drop a Mentos in Coke in a Vacuum Chamber?

In this video I do an experiment showing what it looks like when you drop a Mentos in Coke while it is in a vacuum chamber! We have all seen the awesomeness of dropping Mentos in soda at regular atmospheric pressure, but what happens when it is under vacuum? Watch and find out. I do three experiments to test it out. The first one I do at atmospheric pressure in the chamber with the lid on for comparison. Then I do it with no Mentos drop just putting a Coke in the vacuum chamber. Then finally I drop a Mentos in the Coke while under vacuum, the results is awesome!

I'm curious about the soda reaction in a vacuum. The dark color of the cola makes it difficult to see the bubble reaction during the vacuum while you're reducing atmosphere, other than the surface. Could you do a Sprite, lemon-lime or club soda that is clear, and in a bottle, to show the reaction in the liquid itself?

Ever froze pop? Its looses its carbon but takes up the same or very similar volume. Like shaking a can of pop. The suds left the liquid but the liquid still seems like it is the same volume. In freezing and shaking the can is much more pressurized but the liquid seems like the same volume.

I've got a theory I am working on and would really like to know, if you take a somewhat rigid object (eg. a coke bottle like this) properly sealed with a pressure gauge, would the pressure inside increase as the air is pumped out of the vacuum chamber. Logic tells me it should, but I would like to know if there would be a calculable ratio.

If the container is rigid there will be no volume change so the pressure inside will stay exactly the same. But the difference between the internal and external pressure will be greater so there is more strain on the can or bottle. If the container is elastic then pressure will decrease internally because the volume will get bigger as you decrease the pressure around it.
