What Happens When you Make Cloud Dough With Flour or Shampoo?

Cloud dough is made using corn starch and hair conditioner. I made a video tutorial for how to make it and there were SO many comments on what can be substituted for those ingredients. This is a follow up video to the original tutorial answering a few of those questions.

I used flour. I put a bit of water, lotion, and conditioner so water and lotion really helps it it feels like it was made with corn starch.

Try 1 cup of flour and 1/2 of lotion 🧴 or 1 cup of flour and 1/2 conditioner. Hope this helps anyone! I have made so many stretchy and soft cloud dough.

The gluten in wheat flour prevents thickening. You need to use twice as much flour than corn starch when making gravy. I suspect that you needed to use twice as much flour to make a true comparison between the two doughs.

I made this with flour, conditioner and a tiny bit of water, and it turned out just fine! It is in fact a bit sticky, but if you add some flour it's all good.

You have to mix the flour for around 10 mins before it turns to cloud dough try it it works just as well people assume without pouring their whole heart into it first

i made it with flour and it was sticky at first but when you add a sprinkle of flour it gets better. however it does not have the same consistency as the cloud dough, its more like proved bread dough if that makes sense. im going to try to buy some corn starch and make the original

You can use maida (refind flour) it will be so soft than cloud dough but you have to mix it very well don't leave it after mixing 2 or 3 times (use with conditioner)

You need to cover it up for two hours so just put it in a container with a lid and then after that just mix it a lot and then it will become cloud dough

Flour gets stickier with Conditioner so instead, use Lotion instead of Conditioner. Better results with Flour+Lotion :)

Um no I used flour and it is not sticky at all At first it was though I kept need to get and didn’t give up and I got a really nice though and do not eat it it looks like butter and it feels like butter but just obviously less wet and I put yellow dye in it and it’s beautiful

Guys I wanna say that depending on the amounts used is how the consistency will turn out and I didn’t measure anything but I will say that when doing something like this it what I did was I added a s spoon full of flour so maybe a tablespoon if your measuring to a small dabble of conditioner and mixed and added more of whatever needed from there and that’s what I recommend doing so that way you can start from too dry and then go to something more soft depending on your preference and the reason I say to do it like that is because with conditioner it will be harder to go from wet to dry rather the from dry to wet and it will kinda feel like the shampoo to cornstarch when it was dryer I also wanna mention that this is only a better option if you don’t have corn starch If you read all of this I hope you the best in your slime / cloud dough journey 💕

Also if it’s too hard try massaging it Using more conditioner And running it under warm water for only a few seconds Also this is time consuming so don’t try if you are not a patient person cause there will be quiet a bit of needing

That's a great question! I haven't tried potato starch, but I am skeptical. I haven't tried potato flour, but I would absolutely recommend that! I have a hunch that potato flour and hair conditioner might work well with a 1-1 ratio. Potato flour is thicker than wheat flour. Wheat flour contains gluten, which slows the thickening process. It will take twice as much wheat flour than cornstarch. My guess is that it would take half as much potato flour as cornstarch. Try it and see the science behind the fun.

How long ago did you make it? If it was just now, add a bit more conditioner. If it's been a few days thats normal. Cloud dough will dry out with time.

The flour and the shampoo works out pretty well, you just need to add little amounts of shampoo at a time and at first it will be like in little clumps but once you use your hands it will become better!

All the cloud dough I've made (which had been a lot) smells the same a few days later as when I first make it. Maybe slightly less potent, but not bad smelling. If you're just using flour and water, it probably started to rot or just "go bad". Cloud dough will dry out before rotting.
