If you save your file on a "neutral location" between red and blue you can use the save from the other game without any issues. It depends what color the city is

That's exactly what I was thinking. The tech back then was basic, it should only have problems loading ereas with an actual difference in coding

There are no physical location differences between games though….the error is more to do with how the game handles warps after loading save data. More than likely, a saved pointer was just bad due to certain data not being in the same location between games (this only happens due to the very minor graphical differences which offset certain data points)

Hm I believe the games are exactly the same, so I believed that the way the game wrote or read the info from those save files were done exactly the same, now I didn't knew that the colors would influence the game like this xd

I kinda figured it would’ve happened, just because the gameplay are the same and can interact eachother with link cable it doesn’t mean that their coding are exactly the same because even a minor differences with different pokemon version exclusive is more than enough to confuse the game if you transfered red save file to blue and vice versa

I'm the semi-casual player who occasionally picks up the battle pass if it's a good unit and/or if I need the quartz, so I appreciate you going over Frostlord Roz here. I don't have her yet so I'll definitely pick up this battle pass. Though tbf, the abyss keys have made the battle pass much more worthwhile even when the unit isn't great. At this point just the keys and quartz make it worth it now so idk if I'll keep skipping passes in the future or just go in even when I don't care about the unit.

You can load the save and fly/teleport/escape rope and play the game normally. It's a good way to get both game's version exclusives.

I used to do this when I played on emulators a lot back in the day. The trick was to save near a door, once I had gone through a door, everything would be fine.

I can do this easily without a PC its called a monsterbrain, a really rare thing that came out back then. It acted as as gameshark and a save storage. Mine can hold around 50 saves from Pokemon Gen I and II and I can swap freely, although I never tried. Simply use this as a thing since I haven't replaced my batteries yet in the carts.

I did this with a black save and white cart. Everything worked but I encountered the opposite games legends and black city was renamed white forest, but the city still stands in its place, Opelucid city was futuristic in white instead of historical, and the gym leader drayden is now in white, not iris. Those are all of the things I noticed but there was probably more.

Back in 2006, my Ho-Oh cartridge started to fail. Someone put inside a battery and a part of the hardware of Yellow version on my Ho-Oh, and when I opened, NPC's of Pokémon Yellow appeared in my 2nd generation game, mostly on Kanto, and after a few hours of gameplay, the cartridge failed. I closed it to open again, and it never worked again! I was pretty sad, because it was the game I had for years and took me a lot of time to get past on it because the cartridge was French and I didn't understand it at the time (my country's mother language is Portuguese & our native language is Crioulo, and it's on west coast Africa). But as I get older, I realized that was something wholesome and few got to experience it!

That sounds crazy and very interesting. I can't imagine seeing Yellow npcs in a gen 2 game. It would be so unusual. I'm surprised the cartridge still worked after someone put a part of hardware of Yellow inside of it until it failed.

When he did it, because he thought it was the best solution (at the time we had Internet only in Cybers and we didn't had the usual customs of looking for solutions there), he opened and worked, he came to my home to give it to me! I told him it crashed, when I saw him months later and he really thought it was still working xD

I wonder if this is because the red and blue carts are revision mismatched. The red version seems to be missing it's version stamp on the label, which would indicate a first printing. Though the stamp on the blue version label seems to read just 42, not xxA, xxB, xxC, or xxD. Which would also indicate first printing, and not revision A, B, C, or D.

My pokémon blue still works after 24 years and still holds a save file, but I have to blow in the cartridge every time I start playing. I only have a GBA SP that I use to play it, so the game sticks out and gets glitchy if I touch the cartridge while playing. This past week it gave one of my pokémon all new attacks but kept the same PP as the previous attacks so maybe the names just changed. It was outside of battle so I didn’t test it.
