Parental care of some form is much more common in (freshwater) egglayers than live bearers. It's also even more common in large fish like bass, and fish that tend to have rivalries and aggression among their species like cichlids. Even in bettas, the classroom example of intraspecific aggression, the male tends to the eggs in a nest and provides them with oxygen until they hatch. In many fish species, the male is the one that cares for the babies, if both parents aren't involved.

@Nemesis0513Ай бұрын
@@haletehking historically, almost no parrot crosses have produced consistently fertile male offspring, and almost all “convict parrots” have the exact color schemes of one or two convict species. I’ve done some breeding with them myself, and am currently raising up three different batches of them (including one from a newer “marble” variety), and the parrot mouth gene is a byproduct of how unstable the shortbody genes are, which also explains why batches of convict parrots can appear so different in body shape.

Brine shrimp eggs are like sesame seeds, they have no foreseeable nutritional value by themselves. You will need to hatch them but most of the times fish babies live off detritus anyway
@FLAquaguy2 ай бұрын
Absolutely right!
@Chemeleon152 ай бұрын
If all you do is hatch the eggs and you don’t also feed the shrimp nothing should be different. All the potential nutrients in the live feed are in the egg itself. That’s how eggs(and seeds) work. The necessary building blocks are already there, just takes time and water to assemble. Plants are a little different bc sprouts can turn seed starches to sugars, or add chlorophyll from growing but not much else.
