That yellow cucumber, we have had some of those, if you overlooked it for a few days, that might be why, unless you got a particular kind of cucumbers, I’ve saw round yellow cucumbers, but I’ve never tried growing them! I had to go get my own hickory switch too, but my Nana always called it a Hickory switch. Never heard it just called a 'hickory' until you said it :) Maybe because she was from Virginia? IDK, but same here. If I came back with a puny one, then back out I went. One time I was crying so hard & told my mom I had to go to the bathroom. I put on 16 pairs of underwear and went back out. She told me when I was older she tried so hard no to laugh. I had to take them all off. My bottom was WAY OUT LOL. It was a nice try, lol. I'm sorry about your garden. I'm still picking mine early & letting them ripen in the window. I have no clue why or how you got an orange cucumber! LOL! If got the wrong size of hickory switch per your age got an extra lick. Ours was from lilac bush. Never figured out how we were to know correct size for our age,😂 but I usually didn't need it, saw siblings need it too much
