Your AC has to work twice as hard when you wait to turn it on in the heat of the day. Just set the temp and leave it. It will cost the same to operate. As a bonus it will control the humidity in your home much better (lower humidity = less mold).

Great video again... Just so you know, the one common factor/regret that the common regret with every ex-pat and foreigner is not practicing/learning Spanish beforehand. It is THE MOST beneficial thing that you can do in preparing for the move.

Great interview Randy. You are my type of guy compared to other interviews from Americans. I was there for a month during cov to get residency and set up business, but since Canada was shut down I couldn't get my paperwork in time before they changed the immigration rules, so I had to dissolve the business and am still trying to find a way. I have been self employed my whole life so I don't have a pension, but I can work from Panama but don't have 200000 to get residency. Still working on it.

Hi Jackie et. al, I'm coming on the tour this year for sure. Originally I was going to come before rainy season starts but I don't know if that will work out. It could be July. Is the rain that much of a detriment to tour vs non-rainy season? Looking at climate/precipitation charts it looks as though Oct/Nov are the worst for rain. Then again I don't mind rain, just wondering if it becomes a factor to the experience? (flooding, 24/7 rain, etc).
@PanamaRelocationTours
@PanamaRelocationTours 10 ай бұрын
There is not much rain in July. And if it rains, it's usually after 4pm when the tour group is already at the hotel.

I’m since November 2019 in Panama. I learned at this 4 years to stay away from places where Gringos step on their own feet. I honestly can’t hear Americans saying: DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH RENT THIS WOULD COST ME IN XXXXXXX USA? I can’t hear it anymore! When they hear that I’m renting a 2 bedroom house in Gorgona for roughly 20% of what they are paying 5 minutes away from my place they just thinking that I am lying. I just respond: “Not one worker’s family in Panama can afford to pay that much rent you Americans do pay. It’s impossible for them!” I honestly don’t care anymore about this stories. And I mentioned it already 2 years ago on one of your videos. Boquete, Panama City, Gated communities are a nightmare for me. If I would like to live with only Americans or Canadians together in little USA - I could just stayed in Canada or USA. No point of living in a different country if you don’t like to experience the local life. 2.5 years ago, a couple we know joined to drive to David / Boquete and see how it is. I had already a problem to get a hotel booked in Boquete because the prices were outrageous! So I booked 2 rooms in David, Hamptons Inn I think it was called. $60 a room for 2 including breakfast. It was a couple hundred dollars in Boquete at the time. And yes. When we did visit Boquete we did eat in a restaurant. And yes. You really get heart burn when the bill is coming. My girlfriend had some pasta with tiny salmon quarters in it. I had pasta Alfredo. A soda and a beer. The bill was $53!!! The other couple were close to visit a hospital when the bill came. Bottle of wine, both had a salmon platter. I remember my friend’s eyes popping out when he looked at the bill. $115!! So Boquete surely has it Charme. But not in my budget. Well. I could afford to live there. But I don’t want to throw away my money. I never understand why North Americans have to live all together. - In Nueva Gorgona, we visit regularly a pizza restaurant. As we waited for our food, a couple from Canada did ask me where I live. “A couple of streets away.” The husband looked at me and his wife and said: “I didn’t know that here is a gated community?” I responded: We live just like all Panamanians side by side. I was 4 years in military. The last time I had 24/7 security. After a couple minutes they said: “Is it not too dangerous in Panama?” - No idea. My neighbors watching what is going on in the streets around our house. It is like in every neighborhood in the world. Only here, we don’t have “Neighborwatch” signs everywhere like in Canada. 😅

Hi Jackie I was watching one of your videos with questions being asked with Randy,in Panama do you pay tax on your social security or other income from the US. We were looking at Europe but the countries we like do tax you on foreign income so we started looking at Panama and Mexico. Thank you for your last reply,thanking you in advance for your reply to this question

It isn't fair to blame new people coming to town for rising prices. New people don't know what the prices should be and they don't determine the prices. Like everyone else, they want the best deals at the most affordable prices possible. It's the business and property owners who are greedy and want more and more and more. They don't have to raise prices the way they do. Not only are they pricing out new people, but they also are pricing out their own local people. So they're the ones to blame, not the new people that are coming into town just trying to get a good deal.

??? How do you handle medical insurance there, can Medicare work or do you have to take out private coverage
@PanamaRelocationTours
@PanamaRelocationTours 10 ай бұрын
Randy self-insures since it is less than $20 to see a doctor. Medicare does nit work in Panama. But if you have the right Medicare Advantage plan, it covers medical emergencies in Panama.

Hot water in Panama? 😂 I do know many people who live in skyscrapers in PTY. Not one has permanent hot water. I have in Gorgona every afternoon (after 1pm) hot water without having a water heater. The sun is heating it up regularly.😅
