Cette vidéo tombe pile au moment où mon Cavalier est en train de manger sa ration. Je n’ai jamais été fan de Royal Canin, je donnais Orijen à ma Blenheim et j’en étais très contente. Quand j’ai eu ma Ruby il y a un mois je suis passé à la raw food sur conseil de l’éleveur. Ca demande un peu d’organisation notamment parce qu’elle refuse de manger les légumes autrement que mixés avec la viande mais pour le moment ça se passe bien. I’m switching my senior Maltese (16 yrs) to raw soon, in fact big country raw. I have decided to switch him because I wanted more say in my dogs diet and my vet was also suggesting obscure royal canine foods🤨. My puppy is also being switched to raw but I have taken the liberty of taking courses to do D.I.Y. Raw for her. Your video was very informative about big country raw, thank you!

Hello I live in Tasmania and will now try the raw or BARF diet for my 2 year old Tri Cav called Willow, as she has soft sometimes runny poos and has been having cooked chicken breast plus a ¼ cup of Royal Canine Cav biscuits a day and I have been concerned she was not having a balanced diet. I did try raw when she was one, but she wouldn’t eat it. Worth trying again, but no patties here like yours. Thanks for your information.

I don’t feed raw (and not interested), but thought this video could be interesting, anyway (dog food as a topic is interesting to me, regardless of the type 🙂). I’m not against raw at all, but support feeding what your dog does best on. I know some dogs have done best on it like my dog has done best on what I feed him right now. What’s most important to me is making sure your dog is feeding a balanced diet, regardless of the form. Glad you’ve found what has worked best for Herkey and Milton!

Hello! My cavalier francis james who is about 15 months has recently become uninterested in his kibble and i really want i change up his diet. I asked a clerk at global pet foods and they suggested using a bit of tripe. I attempted this and it fixed the problem, but only for a week or so. Now he is uninterested in this kibble/tripe mixture. I am from Canada and got super excited about giving big country raw a try because its available in Canada 🇨🇦 😀. I was wondering if u find Herky and Milton become uninterested in the food at all? How long it took before you may have had to change it up or if you had to at all? Thank you so much for the information!

I don’t have a dog yet, but when I do I REALLY want to feed raw. My fiancé knows the benefits but still says, “There’s so many dogs that are kibble fed and lived really long. Raw is too expensive!” I have been trying to convince him for a few years to let me, but he goes back and forth with it. Hopefully he’ll let me when it comes down to it. I love raw because it seems like the best thing to give them. My leopard gecko gets live food and my fish get fresh food, so why not give my dog fresh food too?? That’s my thought on it. You can just show him the difference between the ingredients, they speak for themselves :) Also you can compare portions and pricing of raw vs kibble to see that depending on the brand, it's not that much more!

The raw food diet is smart. I used to feed my Cavaliers Royal Canin food. ( Royal canin is US made, imported to where I live) I was talking to a vet, and he was saying that a lot of foods that are imported have to receive treatment at customs to ensure no contaminants come into the country. (This usually means food is zap with high levels of radiation). Since that day, I buy local and fresh!

i’m not a huge fan of raw food just because where i live it can get pricy and it’s kinda gross however i would try to work it in on occasion my main form of food would be a good quality dry food with some dog friendly fruits and veggies

Also I've noticed that Milton's fur is longer (especially her ears) now, I've noticed it ever since she got spayed is it true ? Or if it is just me 🤔. I also feed my pup raw ever since he was around 6 months old and now he is 1 and 10 months old and I won't ever go back. Since he was really really picky before with his kibble and ever since I've transitioned him to raw he will literally devours everything without any hesitant and he isn't picky anymore also he's coat, teeth, and body is better with raw 😊. I also do sometimes put raw egg, veggies or small amount of fruits too since I like decorating any kinds of food 😂 and it's good for him too. Do you enjoy decorating their meals too ?

I got results for Freckles and she doesn't have UTI. Since she is just 8 months old we are waiting to see if it's just her playing a lot and then drinking a lot then playing and busting for a wee and having mistakes, she hasn't had mistakes in a few days now again. I feed my Spitz some raw food he used to be all raw, he had some issues on a all raw diet, Freckles is allergic to meat protein, she is on food allergies dry food. We tried her on raw and a few puppy kibbles when we got her and she was having diarrhea and was very itchy, and it persisted so I took her vets and we tried the food allergies dry food and she is fine on that. We spoke to the breeder too and she said it's probably allergies too, cause she feeds her Cavs raw foods.I always wanted a Cavalier and the first one I got is so fragile. But we are finding what works for her.

Do you have more in depth information about the Big Country Raw meals and, in particular, the ratio of the ingredients? From what it looks it's not as perfectly balanced as it should be. The turkey meal that you showed seems to lack offals (liver alone is not enough). Tripe is also one of the essential ingredients every raw meal should have and I could only spot it in some of their recipes. Most "pre-made" recipes are good for transitioning or as a back-up but not the best long-term solution. I highly advise you to consider preparing their meals your own. Once you have your plan set it's really not that much more effort than the pre-packed alternative 😊

Four meals a day is too often. What she is referring to is called Hunger pukes. This video is old, I’m sure OP is aware of this now but raw digest faster than kibble. As a result, dogs are left with empty bellies. It’s an adjustment for them but raw feeding is truly much healthier and it seems more palatable than kibble. As a dog adjust to their diet the hunger pukes would go away. You can help your dog through the process by not feeding the same time everyday. I personally don’t like doing this but it’s an option. Make sure to follow feeding directions and alter the amount you feed base on your dog’s activity level. If you have a very active dog you might have to add more food to the bowl. Eating four meals a day doesn’t allow bodies to rest and restore themselves. Digestion take energy, this is true for people too. Large gaps between meals allow the body to focus on possible internal issues.

Big question from me Mia, so at first I thought Burgundy was a picky eater but recently I noticed she just doesn't like to eat food and just a couple weeks ago she was throwing up bile for days and her food bowl was filled with food. Do you think switching too raw could help her appetite in food? Since eating food seems like a chore for her, I don't know what would be the best thing to do to know she eats food.

Hi Vanessa! So I think if she's throwing up bile it means her stomach is just empty. I think it would definitely make a difference in her appetite to change up the food! You can start with just small portions to see how she reacts to it. But I've never seen a dog NOT like raw ;) I think several brands offer samples that you can get at your local health pet store :)

Maybe ask her if she thinks it would be healthy for a human to eat highly processed food. Even for teeth it's not good, it's like eating chips every day of your life, that would be bad for your gums. After my dog switched diet to meat and veggies and some rice she got better, her stomach wasn't making noises, she was feeling good, she lived for 12 years as a Cavalier so I do believe it did her good and when I get another dog I would feed it raw. It's how they're made to eat, there's no dry food or canned processed food for wolves out there :P

Sorry, I'm coming across your video and wanted to switch to big country. The vet is okay with that after she turns 1 years old. She's worried about salmonella and it being contagious to humans. If she contracts that salmonella and we don't know and she goes and see my mother who is elderly she can catch that salmonella. Would like yours or anyone's opinion.

My pug Gert has had about 15 bladder infections in her life. The vet put her on royal canine s/o for 2 years it did nothing and it is crap. I just switched Gert to big country raw. Will see what happens. She gets diarrhea sometimes for some reason. I'm not really sure why

I agree that Royal Canin s/o is pure crap, just read the ingredients! Our vet also wanted to put Herky on that and I refused after seeing the ingredients. It's then and there I switched them to raw! The diarrhea might just be the transition "detox" period and should be getting back to normal after a few weeks!

I just had my wife watch this video...she’s a PA. It pissed her off. High sodium!?! She couldn’t believe it. Don’t fix one problem by creating another. Very rare does a medical professional recommend a higher sodium diet. There are instances, but it’s not the norm. For dogs it would be the same. Why would you recommend a high sodium diet for a healthy dog???
