Just because the wild west was filled with lots of dirt and spit all over any indoor space doesn't mean they didn't have any hygiene at all! There were many luxuries that we simply don't have in today's modern society that the wild west was able to really enjoy. Cleanliness may not have been at the top of the priority list, but boy were times simpler! Let's take a look back on wild west history and discover what hygiene was REALLY like back then!
Don't miss out on today on Nutty History's rootin' hollerin' Wild West Adventure! 🤠

That in away truly sucks canal water, because I'm in a lot of pain from surgeries, and what not. I can't get one pain pill. But the neighbor down the road, gets 120 a month, doesn't need them and sells them for $8.00 each. I'm NOT a snitch''' But there is something wrong here. Neighbor pays $3.00 for prescription. The thing that people don’t realize about outhouses is that if you’re doing it right they don’t reek. After doing your business you put dirt or ashes on top of your mess with a scoop. Most people using these have fires basically 24/7, so ashes are used.

It's a myth that not bathing on a regular basis is bad for you. You need a certain amount of healthy bacteria on your skin, just as you do a certain amount of healthy oils your body makes. Today in the dust free cities, you can easily go a month without taking a bath or a shower as you can in the forest where dust is at a minimum. People still do use eggs to wash their hair and it's very healthy for the hair.

There is some information that is not correct. For instance they had pain killers. Laudanum and opium could be found anywhere. And women in the west knew they would have darkened skin, if you read any journals you'll know that. The long sleeves and dresses were because of social customs.

Using eggs, & or beer to clean, or condition your hair isn't that old of an idea. My mother used these in the 50's, & 60's. She said it worked pretty well, but today's products are better. They even mention these in old tv shows like mash.

The way you made the sound as if outhouses don't still exist in most parts of the United States especially if you live Rural and that's quite a normal thing you made it sound like those have been extinct for years and have not

I too, used an outhouse as a child. I also knew of a pub with sawdust on the floor, and spittoons in the late 1960's in England (I'm English.) It was not my favorite pub. Also German beer is usually cooled. Maybe in the Oktoberfest it is warm, just because of the high turnover, but anywhere else in Germany the beer is always cooled.

Yup. Laudenuem, Cocaine, Opium, Cannabis, Morphine, and Heroin were all available, used, and abused back then. So people most definitely had a few pain killers available to them. Still, I agree with you. I dont think I'd be going to the dentist unless it was unbearable, AND I was beyond intoxicated. They could extract my tooth once I was passed out, stone cold.
