WHAT I ATE IN A DAY (VEGAN) // EP #38 // THE BEYOND BURGER TASTE TEST // Lauren In Real Life

It's a What I Ate In A Day video and today we're testing the Beyond Burger for dinner! But first I started the morning with coffee, toasting bread from Prairie Boy bakery in Toronto and topping it with some Miyoko's Creamery Double Cream Chive cheese, and a ripe mango.
DISCLAIMER/UPDATE: I take back what I said about the Fieldroast Burger. It makes my digestion messed up, so I don't eat it anymore. Beyond ALL THE WAY!
I picked up some Glory Hole vegan doughnuts (www.gloryholed...) on the way to a meeting. They are DELICIOUS! I ate an Elvis Doughnut that had peanut butter, jelly, and coconut bacon on it. And ended up mindlessly eating another cinnamon sugar doughnut. Oops!
For a snack I had store bought roasted red pepper hummus and Mary's Crackers with half an orange.

I say in the video that I like the Fieldroast Field Burgers better, however having eaten this one and the one I had in Mississippi with @mississippivegan I think those ones actually make me sick and have, you know :/ SO I take back what I said. The Fieldroast burgers contain carrageenan which could be the problem and I didn't actually realize this until the next day.

Lauren THANK YOU so soo much for that one simple statement, "I still want meat, I want to taste meat, I just don't want to eat animals" So many vegans go into defense mode when people say this and I just don't get it. When your raised on meat the cravings are going to be there for a long time for a lot of people that's just how it is and to admit a craving for meat doesn't make you a bad vegan, it makes you an even better one for acknowledging it yet still sticking to a cruelty free life! Your channel is one of my main motivations for going full vegan so always, keep rocking, keep inspiring! (guess I gotta get me one of these beyond burgers because I've really been craving a "real" burger lol)

I love how even the simplest of meals you make, which require nearly no prep, are still delicious. That super crunchy sourdough toast with cream cheese and ripe mangoes looked so appetizing. Every meal doesn't haven't to be super elaborate. That's one of the many subtle things I find so inspirational about your videos.

There's so many messages that somebody might have mentioned this, but the beyond burgers are sold fresh not frozen. So if you don't keep them too long in the fridge you can just store them in the fridge. I only eat them as a treat every once in awhile because they are fatty, but they're amazing! Just a tip ~ it's best not to smell or taste things from bits of it sitting on a spatula, because sometimes the plastic or silicone can really distort the smell and/or taste!

We are very lucky that they started to sell them in Texas several months ago! It's very filling, big thick piece (almost too big for me). We found that overcooking it makes all the fat come out and it becomes dry. It made our whole house smell like meat and blood for two days! It's fun to change up what we eat, though our favorite burger patty is from Gardien.

You know those little moisture absorber bag thingies that say DO NOT EAT you get when you buy jerky, dog treats, anything that needs to stay dry? Put one of those in the jar/container with the coconut bacon

You can get the Field Roast Burgers in Canada now. I got mine at the Eating Well Organically Health Food Store in Waterloo and the Greenbrook Pharmacy in Kitchener. :) They are my fave too!

We just tried it for the first time last night - so it was funny watching this today. I'm with you, I still like meat, but decided 15 years ago not to eat meat anymore... so this burger was great. I wish I had cooked it more, but I think I could trick my dad with it. Also their other burger (it's thinner and more like a frozen beef patty?) is also really good (it's the Beast Burger) I think. And I also like this burger because it's such a great shot of iron and protein to the system, and so filling!

I'm in Penticton, BC and we LOVE the Field Roast Fieldburgers, and the Frankfurters !!! They are sooo good. I've had non-vegans say they all taste like animal meat so it's a win win. I tell people who criticize me eating 'fake meat' it's not about eating something that resembles meat, it's the flavours I miss of the spices and condiments that go along and make up your favorite foods. I'm still picky about cheeses though, I like the Earth Island stuff but nothing beats the local soy mozza that Thor's Pizzaria uses in Nelson. BEST VEGAN PIZZA EVER!!!! *hugs*

this burger is so good, but the impossible burger is even better!! i did use the beyond burger, and chopped it up and made tacos, and it was SO GOOD!. i agree with Lauren though, definitely overcook it.. when it's still pink the texture is off, and i hate the way it smells.. but fully browned it's fantastic.

so the beyond burgers are definitely convincing? my mom and i hardly eat any meat anymore (at least no pork or red meat, but it's only been a couple months so we're progressing) but we'll be in the US this summer visiting my grandparents and i know we'll be grilling stuff for dinner some nights so i've been really wanting to try these because the idea of veggie burgers seems really underwhelming to me (i'm aiming to try a lot of different ones to figure out what i like). this was really helpful to hear though and i hope i can find them somewhere!! thanks lauren xo

I keep the beyond meat burgers in the freezer and just microwave for a minute to thaw then put them right on the pan. They are the best veggie burger I've had from a store
