“We’re all in the process of awakening, but all of us keep hitting the snooze button” • Important to speak the truth at least 1 time • All great thoughts have a ridiculous beginning (all is a big word) • Waiting is an art form 0:31 • Easy to see humans as more evolved than actually is • still in adolescence • Excessive moderation • No is a very advanced word • Yes is a very advanced word “We all Bear wounds and scars…on the inside” 1:26 “the heart has its own reasons that reason knows not of” There are valid times for inappropriateness • Fate is not Destiny, Destiny is not Fate 1:50 Take Risks sometimes, live dangerously; Make careful choices, stay cautious 2:16 Muses of antiquity are not dead Needs are usually preferences Transcend Limitations Learn to be quiet on the inside Vacation travels to where we are Reclaim lost childhood Video games are better than tv for children (agreed) 3:13 Applied Escatology All wars begin with a call for Justice Wars are theft 3:40 You’re sandwich isn’t worse or better than mine (what’s that mean?) Liberation rhetoric stems from the opposite of Liberation 3:57 Self-Destruction comes naturally to mankind (by God) Unfair Privilege comes in all civilizations Shame does not make people change Censorship does not make people change Demonetize begins with Demon Future historians will not cease laughter of people of history 4:56 We grow when life brings us to the edge of understanding Most afraid of dying Most afraid of realizing we’ve been dead all along 5:45 • Gratitude -> Enlightenment of Spirit • Give to others what is not given to you • World Change starts with Personal Change 6:09 Wow 😯 Why is palindrome not a palindrome? Wisdom is rare because Silence is rare (ok…) 6:36 winning an argument 6:55 I know what I “think” “believe” I want, I don’t know what I want Most end up thinking exactly what other people are thinking (woah) 7:41 Life change can happen at any point (even as a baby?) Freedom - blessing and curse 8:00 I believe in you (too) 8:19 “It’s important for us to take care of our souls” “Do something today to take care of yours”

This could have went in an email, but I would not mind if others read this to tell you the truth. This is raw, but I am sure you might find that even more interesting to tell you the truth. You are really onto something incredible! The 'overly examined life' not being worth living is a hard pill to swallow for me from this video. I sometimes think about everything and all of my relationships and what people's feelings, emotions, and pre-conceived perceptions of me are; I overly examine each facet of my existence-in-this-world to the damn near point of schizophrenia (not saying those with schizophrenia are inherently 'bad' or anything, but that I've had some 'quite similar' experiences and they weren't the most 'fun times'). I question just about any and every thought I have about my being-in-the-world and why my insights fog other parts of my life. I feel as though I have a strong foundation now that I recognize what my actual being's nature is. It's quite liberating. Here are a few of my personal insights.. Chaos and harmony live on a reflected spectrum. Spinoza connected the ideas of 'nature' and 'god', is quite poetic and beautiful, to me. Einstein's insight into mass and it's equivalent amount of energy to its respect is phenomenal. I have a strong leaning toward anxious thoughts (years of daily marijuana use, occasional strong acid and mushrooms, I am also just naturally anxious). Thank you for more of your insight to help with my own! Do you see yourself teaching any PhD Clinical Psychology programs in the next 2-3 years? I would be very interested in applying , if you do so by chance! -Cory, KY

Such a great couple of pieces Eric. I believe …. Pretty much what you believe … intrigued by your sign off line… take care of your Soul. My teacher said that the word soul has so many meanings he would never use it as it meant different things to different people. It takes a catastrophe to start the awakening process …which Ramesh Balsekar said was a seeking of peace of mind or happiness in everyday living. I believe he was correct when he said ‘I cannot find happiness in the flow of life” Best wishes to you Eric .

Ha ha... well, I use the word, "soul" precisely *because* it's elusive and slippery, and perhaps even impossible. And yeah, I agree that it usually takes a catastrophe to start the awakening process. So, maybe I use the word "soul" as a way of precipitating that sort of catastrophe. Personally, I'd say that I ascribe mostly to a Buddhist, "anatman" idea of the soul, where it's mainly a locus of ongoing slippage and transformation. But no matter how we think about it, I sense that taking care of the deep center of what we are... is something that a lot of us neglect. And so I suppose that saying, "Take care of your soul" is my way of reminding us that we're infinite, unfathomable beings, and to invite us all to start navigating the oceans of human existence in light of that reality. Hell, maybe I should make a whole video about it. Maybe I will... *maybe I will* [insert maniacal cackling here]. Anyhow, it's always good to hear your figurative voice. Gratitude. Eric D.

@@ericdodson2644 I look forward to your discourse on this. I subscribe to what I suspect you are eluding to (soul) as the Atman or true self as described by the Ancient Indian Rischis (Advaita Vedanta tradition). The knower as the subject. They would say that it needs no looking after as it is the only constant and cannot be harmed touched or destroyed. It is the silent emptiness or nothingness within that knows and lies undiscovered until we embark on the inward seeing.

A great follow up from Eric Dodson today. Also Blaise Pascal echo's this same line of thought...from The Marginalian website. - Pascal observes: "The heart has its reasons, which reason does not know… We know truth, not only by the reason, but also by the heart. "

Having listened to your “I believe” videos just after your 40K video, I believe you could monetise a range of bumper stickers, T shirts and posters with all your slogans. But you won’t. I believe that Qohelet resonates with many of your beliefs. But I believe I am just seeing what I want to see on your videos.

Actually, I believe that there is a great deal of harmony between Qohelet's teachings and the whole way of looking at life I'm articulating in these videos. The first point of intersection, I believe, has to do with realizing the ultimate futility and/or vanity of a lot of what we tend to take very seriously... including our own self-importance. So, I believe that you're actually perceiving something very real, and not something that's merely the product of your personal confirmation biases. Of course, on the other hand, I believe it's possible that both of us are lost in a kind of fantasy. Anyhow, thanks for the thoughtful comments. Gratitude. Eric D.
