Just watched this again ....,missed the 'had the vacuum cleaner on suck instead of blow and there were flames coming out the back of it' first time round......have pepper dashed my walls with my McVities butter shortbread biscuit that I was nibbling on at the time. What a hero this guy is!

Bloody hell Mike, that's great, never seen anything like that before. One thing to watch out for with old engine oil is a buildup of petrol fumes in the supply tank, god they do go with a bang when they go. Stay safe and only use oil out of diesels Mike, and keep the videos coming. Best wishes from Yorkshire Rob.

All done with veg oil Rob - must be close on 8/900c then it comes out of the burner - makes short work of an engine block!

I'd love to come to Canada to meet you. You're mad and brilliant at the same time. Good call on the ZF. It probably won't be OK, and it's a V8 one anyway. If it was from a D2 TD5 on the other hand....
@BritannicaRestorations
@BritannicaRestorations 5 жыл бұрын
There are some bloody boring days here and things like this are fun and the day passes quickly I will not melt parts that are useful, but those V8's with bad liners are ideal for the burner - If I can get one in!

Then use the burner without the barrel. Use a pile of stacked bricks as a fire wall, then melt the engine that way. I used to give safety advice on oilburners videos.

Could do bu the barrel works well as it gets a nice swirl
@arjanwilbie2511
@arjanwilbie2511 5 жыл бұрын
@@BritannicaRestorations will the block and transmission fit the barrel? With the bricks stacked you can have a melt to break it down, the smaller pieces fit the barrel.

As you said mike, your waste motor oil would fire that furnace a treat - anything hydrocarbon based works, folk turn it into black diesel for ultra cheap fuel.

Much as I admire your ingenuity in making a contraption to melt metal I fail to see the point in doing it if you are not intending to use the metal that you make now ( Burt Munro’s World’s Fastest Indian Land Speed Record motorbike ) he made his own bike parts pistons etc just ending up with a big lump of alloy and taking it to the scrap yard seems to be a lot of work for little reward to me time better spent repairing old Land Rovers me thinks.
