Remoulade is the word we use in English in the States. I don’t know what it means, ingredient-wise, but the word is the same. The bag of nutrition in the port or the PICC we call “TPN,” or Total Parenteral Nutrition. Enteral nutrition goes into the digestive tract in some way (you eat it, use a tube to the stomach, etc). Parenteral means through the vein, skips the digestive tract. It’s SUPER expensive here, and pharmacists hate making it. Your cheesecake looked amazing, btw. Hugs!

I’m laying on my bed watching this with my sweet cat Mario 🐈‍⬛. He has cancer too (lymphoma) and he takes chemo pills 2ce a week. He had an ultrasound not too long ago. And it showed no more signs of cancer. But he has to take the cancer drugs for a couple more months to make sure it doesn’t come back.

Romee, you're amazing. I'm on a chemo vacation for a bit but decided your hospital food offers better options than mine! Too bad the US to the Netherlands is such a long commute for lunch! It's great that you can eat and are interested in food. One drug I was on drastically altered my sense of smell and taste and, though I've been off it for several years, they never quite returned to normal. The cancer I have is very rare and is one of those "treatable but incurable" things so having this chemo-cation is a nice break. Keep the inspiration coming for the rest of us!

I was in the hospital for two weeks earlier this year (Austria). I always finished all the food, whether I liked it or not, but I always felt hungry for most of the day and actually lost 3kg... :/

I have been severely anemic a couple times and both times my tastes changed completely. All I wanted was green tea and seaweed crisps and I stopped liking chocolate!! Thankfully things are back to normal :) great video!

The bag of nutrition is called TPN which stands for Total Parenteral Nutrition, which basically means food that completely avoids the digestive system. I can’t eat as my stomach and intestines are in organ failure, so I survive off TPN which I have at home multiple times a week. I’m really sorry you are on it for 24 hours a day, I’m on it for 12 hours a day, but not every day. Anyway, I just wanted to know if you get a dry mouth or thirst from the infusion of TPN? Also you are awesome xxx

I had mouth sores and thrush. Have you tried the lidocaine lollipops? They really gave me relief. There was a pharmacy that made them especially for chemo patients. Maybe they could get them for you.

Your videos are part of my morning routine now Romee. When you say “Gooood morning” I hold my coffee cup up to my laptop screen and reply “Good morning gorgeous girl!”. I know you and your team will be all over it, in some countries you can get prescribed a cocaine mouthwash to help with the mouth sores. I’m just imagining the ad now, inspired by classic toothpaste ads. This man is a dentist. We can’t show you his face because he is trafficking cocaine mouthwash”. Hey Romee. Hope you're feeling well. When we lived in Germany I use to walk to the local bakery ( Bäckerei) and get a pastry that had a poppy seed filling. It was so good. What type of cheesecake did you get? It looks yummy.

Hi, Romie you look fabulous. I had mouth sores too. I’m inquisitive. Was your chemo 5FU? Those sores went from my mouth down to my stomach. They hurt I couldn’t. Talk or eat; my sister made me chicken rice soup, and she didn't skimp on the rice. She put them in Little containers. That and boost. That was a wrong time, a bad time. That was an awful time. The bald look looks awesome on you. Beautiful woman can go with or without hair and still Rock It! Hope your hair comes in thick and curly like some people do. That nurse did a great job. As a nurse, my sister let me shave her hair once her hair started falling out in patches after the Bliomycin treatment. Love that you can have company. In the USA, even before Covid, you were in total isolation for three months. You could only visit through the glass patrician. Things seem much better. The food is much better there. In the States we have fried fish with tartar sauce. Some use ketchup (yuck). Dutch licorice is awesome. Sending healing light your way.

When my Mama was going through chemo, she added so much salt to everything. She couldn't taste any sort of spices really except salt. It was kind of incredible to watch, but it got her to eat, so hey...

My mom had a bad fall and was in rehab for it. But she also had high blood pressure and they tried to restrict her salt intake. They finally relented a little because she wasn’t eating. But she still wanted more than the packet they gave her. The difference is she’d always eaten lots of salt and never gotten used to cutting down on it.

I know some people with cancer absolutely hate it if someone else shaves their heads for "them." They don't like it themselves that they loose their hair and do not want anyone to feel what they are feeling. Just my experience.

Try cinnamon on porridge (oatflakes). As Romee says salt or spices can make food more palatable. In regular life I do not like salty foods. Grilled bacon or sausage, omelette. Best of luck xxx

When I was getting chemo I couldn't stand hot food. The smell got to me. Believe it or not, I really craved sushi (vegetarian only!) Nice and cold and fresh.

The hospital food in Maine General hospital was very good. That really kept me going, full menu with choices and different sandwiches if you didn’t want one of the entrees. Even lobster rolls if you wanted . This is Maine after all. Still there no place like home.

All dutch people are brought up speaking two languages at school and universities are all in English in Amsterdam I get spoken to in English and answer in dutch plus most tv is in English and has been under titled and most times not very good plus Romee has traveled that helps

Chemo tounge is a real thing. I remember chicken tasted like rubber, and even pizza tasted strange. I also remember my hair started to fall out waiting in line at the bank. Fun cancer memories. I love your attitude, keep strong!
