For more information on plant-based eating here is a good place to start: www.sagerunnin...
PROTEIN: The recommended daily allowance (RDA) is .8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. That means I got almost double of what I actually needed.
I also had some grapes for dessert after dinner but lost that part of the video.

@Blue Butterfly When my Girlfriend and I ought our house, we realized that our counter space was pretty minimal. We didn't buy a microwave since we wanted the extra space. It's been 8 months and we don't miss the microwave. I have no idea if microwaves are really all that bad but it's something I'm glad we did.

Same. Mostly plant based here but I have to think of my health first as an athlete and long term health of muscles, tendons, collagen, etc. I can cut dairy but refuse to give up fish. I could easily be vegan but our bodies need B-12 and omegas only absorbed from meat sources. I still take supplements for B-12 and Vit. D but, with fish as a compromise, I know I'm not missing any essential nutrients. xx

Was vegan for 16 years and switched to WFPB, no oil, no sugar, 3 years ago. Cronometer says I get over 100 grams of protein every day. It seems that whole plants are loaded with protein. Agree that my taste buds completely changed also. Now enjoy lemons, limes and cranberries with no added sweetener.

I like to use my thicker base stainless steel pan. I sit it on a low heat after adding the water and let my oats soak up and soften, meanwhile I have my frozen blueberries and few cherries sit out for this time. The oats always soak and soften before the berries thaw so I use the heat in the pan's base as well as the hot oats to finish the thaw and also cool the oats down. I'm gonna sound like a know it all now, but I like to think this gives a more gentle and even thawing to those precious blueberries. I also often just pour the bowl of berries into the pan as it's easier to mix then in the pan when the porridge goes soft

i eat a lot of porridge too. i tend to add the oats, banana, frozen berries, some cinnamon flavouring, chia seeds and sometimes peanut butter and use soya milk rather than water. It is a rather large bowl though, so takes 4 mins in the micro, quick stir (almost wrote stare then, but i only glance at it) and then another 2 mins. completely vegan and all of the fruit flavours blend with the oats. for extra sweetness i may add some raisins or a small scoop of Tailwind. I absolutely agree on having a daily smoothie too. I like mine really thick (eat with a spoon) and always add turmeric powder and black pepper (to limit post run inflammation) along with beetroot powder for the nitrates no matter what flavour smoothie I make. Always frozen fruit because smoothies must be cold and if feeling pretty hungry - add oats to the smoothie

I used to hate oatmeal, but now I eat it salty (as a congee substitute) or sweet (nuts, berries and bananas turned sweet when cooked). I used to hate salads, but I realized I just hated the prepackaged salad dressings and now make my own. Still a frequent carnivore though.

Ty for being “real” with the volume of food you eat in a day. I tell people I eat like a truck driver. 😁 Nice to know I’m not the only one who puts greens in her oatmeal. I’ve preferred savory oats for a long time. And SAME on the salads. I rarely dress mine. I typically used lemon pepper seasoning only. Balsamic is a splurge. I like to taste my food. Keep up the good work! I just subscribed based off this video. ✌🏻💙🏃🏼‍♀️

I really liked your video. Great eating! Chocolate oats are so good. That Santa Cruz pb is my fav. Have you tried Navitas cacao powder? I like it better and I think it has more flavanols than cocoa powder processed with alkali. What brand of nibs do you like? I've tried them before and love the rich flavor, but I seem to get crunchy shell bits in them.

I've never questioned protein in plant based diets but at such a high athletic level, I'd be much more worried about B12 and Vit. D which are imperative to repairing muscle and collagen (vit D for calcium absorption and immune system health). I know that nutritional yeast has B12 in it but I also know many vegans who sustain this lifestyle, at an athletic level, for years and do not realize the deficiencies until muscle and collagen are so badly injured that they cannot perform any longer. B-12 shots become a "must" and dissolvable B-12 tablets, infinitely. So, no, you cannot get *everything* you need from a plant based diet without supplements and at this athletic level, just be aware that many are forced into at least eating fish, as B-12 is only absorbed from animal sources. ~ Dr. DPP
@Vo2maxProductions
@Vo2maxProductions 4 жыл бұрын
"B-12 is only absorbed from animal sources" That is False. While I agree with you that every athlete should watch their Vitamin D and B12 Levels regardless of diet. There is a good chance probably about 70% of all Americans are low in Vitamin D. Plenty of meat eaters....and those that run a lot and get low on iron too. I regularly get these levels checked and I also take an algae oil based form of DHA/EPA essential fatty acids (much better source than a lot of fish...esp those filled with mercury/lead/PCBs etc). All athletes (regardless of diet) should watch their Vitamin levels for optimum performance.
@dpetrina4625
@dpetrina4625 4 жыл бұрын
@@Vo2maxProductions academy.plantbasednews.org/blog/b12-vegan-diet -- I am not trying to argue against veganism. Nor am I saying that anyone, vegan or not, isn't deficient in vitamin D. I see it daily, especially in the climate where my patients live (very little sun). High dose D-2 is usually warranted. You are correct in that area. I have seen it up and close: *Some* vegans do not realize the importance of B-12. Most people seem to understand what a Vit. D deficiency, in my experience. However, you'd be surprised, since you are quite well educated, how many try to go vegan, especially athletes, who end up ruining their collagen for life by not being educated on B-12. Example: An Olympic bound 15 year old who was vegan for 4 years prior to having to come to a halt and never skate again. Her tendons in her feet weren't healing at all. She is in extreme pain, had dangerously low B-12, needs B-12 shots (because her gut would no longer absorb B-12 from any source) and will never be pain free or wear normal "teenage girl" shoes. Even being on her feet for 3 hours of work leaves her in excruciating pain, needing the knots in her feet rubbed out nightly. My original answer was just a quick, non-judgmental warning. Still. not judging but I understand how the vegan community is very passionate. This is not an attack on diets. It is just fact. If it makes one person aware, then my post was worth it.
