Look I don't have the most wonderful comment. But you can go through with it. You can. It's expensive. You get chubby. You look horrible, I did. And then the regrets and mistakes. I have found using my rice cooker that I can skip on setting up my stove, especially when it’s windy. I prefer to cook outside than in my rig when using my stove, unless I’m using my MSR windburner backpacking stove for heating water. I’m not sure what wattage of a battery you have but I’ve found small personal rice cookers that are low wattage. My rice cooker is a 14 cup stainless steel, I love it, I can do other things than just rice etc. I tested it out for warming up my veggie burger and impossible burgers, warming up my bread all at once! Super easy and efficient. 💚

I could totally eat the way you are talking about. In fact, I used to pretty much eat exactly as you describe when I had my RV. Now, I am as chemical free as possible because I’m controlling a health issue almost completely with changing my diet. Just about everything you describe is no longer something I can eat. Once I began reading labels, I was shocked at what I had been consuming all of my life.

Believe it or not, open MAYONNAISE does not have to be refrigerated. I keep mine multiple months under the counter. However you MUST not contaminate it. If you are spreading it on say bread and the utensil touches the bread, you must use a new clean utensil. Best are the squeeze bottles. It will freeze though and, while still okay, separate and not remix well. There is a great sailing podcast called “The Boat Galley”. A lot of interesting ideas for folks with limited water, power, and space.

How do you heat your beans? There is a gadget I have called a Hot Logic mini. I heat my food in it. They make one that plugs into a regular outlet and they make one that you can plug into a cigarette lighter. I had to get a 4 Oz glass dish with cover for it. If you have time to let it cook it works really well. I have cooked sausages, also a meal of Gortons Fish with a side of green beans and put deli Cole slaw with it and a piece of fruit. I also got some frozen meatballs and put in the hot logic with Manwich sauce and cheese for a meatball sub. Just ideas to add a little variety. I also do bagged salad. Honey doesn't go bad or have to be refrigerated and they make sealed little boxes of milk You can drink or add to cereal.

Bananas are cheap if you like them. Bag of oranges for vit c is a good snack. Some of my favs are popcorn, celery with hummus but they charge so much and you can’t eat it quick enough. You can get some good deal if there are organic farms around or farmers markets.

Thanks for the ideas! One of my go-to's when we are on the road are quesadillas. I use the low carb Mission wraps as I am keto, which I can't get here in Canada, so I stock up when we are in the US. I grate cheese on one, maybe add a slice of ham, and top it with another wrap. Put them in a frying pan over medium heat. Flip once and when the cheese is all melty, it's done! With a side of salsa, it's delish! Sometimes, we'll add a cup of soup on chillier days too.
@200Nora2 жыл бұрын
Me too, I am keto, and having somehow to do a little cooking is paramount for me. Besides, I never had a big taste for prepacked meals and fast foods. I travel nurse, and I use my minivan for camping and traveling back and forth between states. I have a little electric cooking pot, my mini griddle for eggs, burgers, almond pancakes, and waffles. They do not use too much electricity. I even cook while driving. I also have a battery with 200W solar, and a small 12V fridge for greens, veggies, leftovers, etc. I also have a cup to boil water for my coffee, tea, and a quick soup. A USB shaker for an occasional keto smoothie is handy. Life should not be too complicated.
