I used to like copolymers when they first came out because theg performed well for the price. But the coatings always started to peel off and never had much resilience. That's why I stopped using them. I barely use fluoro anymore. I do use quality line conditioners. I think KVD is the most complete. Most line conditioners are made from some formula of silicone oil.

Hey John: Thanks for sharing what you learned. I for one mistakenly thought of fluorocarbon stretching like a bungie cord, when in fact it is irreversibly stretched in heavy use as you perfectly demonstrated.

Big Swimbaits, they put a lot of casting stress on line. What’s sunline recommending these days for those, I can get about 80 cast with 25 sniper before I have to retie, and after every fish before it breaks above the knot

Most people don't understand about line memory. I delive it's happens when it's put on the "BIG SPOOL " as you say. In the manufacturer as it cools..or does it occur by being on you reel spool,as menny people believe. I believe I occurs at the time of manufacturer as it cools or sets so to speak.

Cool video John I have a question about fluorocarbon line….if you get hung up 30 yards away and have to stretch it to break off does it return to its original diameter and strength? Should I peel off the 30 yards or just retie and keep fishing?

The line stretches and gets smaller. That section now does not have much stretch but retains its breaking strength. Make sense?

How does heat in the boat rod compartment and heat from the summer time affect the line as it sits on deck also? Man i have a bunch of questions on this. Also how long does it take to consider floro old line when it's brand new.

Fluoro is not effected by any reasonable heat or UV light. Fluoro needs to be replaced after being stretched too much and lots of abrasions from use

A lot of differences in manufacturing, but when I’m fishing in my open, snag less, and no toothy fish conditions they all fish the same.

Some good information: Currently, I am using Daiwa Samurai & some Seagar for FC. Varivas & Big Game for mono, then Kastking KastPro Spectra 4-braid for my Braided setups. 🍺🎣

Fouro is nice for less strech where clarity is needed. But i really dont think its much better than mono unless fishing deep. Its pretty much overrated.
