Yup...posted my 1st vid on New years day...been locked in ever since looking at the dos and donts. But I'm not looking for any fame and fortune but just to add to the lives of people that may watch but I can surely understand where Tarra is coming from. Once you do get to the point of monetization everything changes. The same happened to me when I moved my photography from hobbyist to professional. So I guess the key in all this is...to stay grounded ALWAYS! Keep focused, keep it real, and maintain your passion for whatever it is you're going to showcase.

I noticed a lot of KZbinrs are saying content creation is the new 9-5. I think if artists on KZbin aren’t careful they can quickly fall into this trap. I’ve seen it happen.

Tarra Lu is a soft spoken individual. My greatest challenge has been no views, no subscribers and no comments. I got frustrated and then I realised instead of letting go, I need to be me and just enjoy being me, while posting.I need to face my frustration in the face😂 So my anxiety on views is gone and I don’t think I would give up on KZbin either. Great story, and I am happy to see you are satisfied. Being a KZbinr is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like businessman should offer product/service that people need. And when the growth becomes real, you can consider hiring people to help you run your channel more efficiently. The most difficult part is starting and growing of course, but consistency and hard work (with a little bit of help from Fame -ster of course) will always pay off at the end.

Yes, KZbin is tricky. It kinda forces you to follow what’s trending and give the people what they want. You have to make sure you’re doing what you love or else your channel will get stuck. I had a channel that got stuck because I fell into the trap. Now I’m starting over.

What a refreshing video! I'm on the cusp of monetization (999 subs and 3,000 hours as I type this lol) and I have noticed my thought processes changing already. I have had my channel for 3 months, I find one has to be passionate from the start about what they are presenting! The passion will drive one to be their best version of self and creating content that is relatable and resonating. If one can inspire others than that is half the error. I feel I need the audience to know that sometimes content creation is trial and error. Nothing comes out perfect all the time and that we are all a work in progress! Sometimes I have to record at least 3 rimes to get my message and content out!!

Good gracious, I checked my analytics like that even though I'm not monetized yet. I often plan out my schedule and then change it in the moment to what I'm most excited about. I love this video so much! Such a good question. I made a list of 15 things to guide me daily, and it helped/helps me so much! Not only to not chase the YT money/algorithm but also not to just chase what other artists are doing. "Views pay the bills, but impact feeds the soul." 🙌 So good! These are exactly the things I worried about when I launched this October. I was urged by hubby to start about 5 years ago. You got it. The flock will never get this. I’ve said before you better know who you are before you get into KZbin. Money was never the problem. It only shows you who you truly are. We must learn how to serve first before we lead. The comment sections is the driving force, you are the key. Think of it like a vehicle. The key is needed to start the vehicle. Even if it’s keyless. It still need you. The comment section is the transmission. The information is the gas or electricity. Your why are the connecting components that are all necessary to make the vehicle run. Well said ❤️ I lost myself in subscriber numbers and forgot what my message was I had to take a break. I've got back into it and I'm okay that I'm not big nor monetized. A lot of "successful" KZbinrs don't have 'real' lives IMO, and they're lost. Another thing, I found, the algorithm is your friend, not against you. It helps you find an audience and create a community. I think everyone thinks and has bought into wanting to be the next Mr Beast etc, but the truth is, find your authentic self in your community no matter how tiny it is 🤗😇❤️

Girl you are wise beyond your years! As a former licensed bodyworker I hear every soulful word. I made it very clear when I started to take my channel seriously that I was going to be true to who I am and I let my community know not to expect a 1 trick pony because I was multi-talented and my interest in being impactful went beyond just doing interior design and DIY. My community grew because I have always been MYSELF and transparent. I do know the color of my skin limits my reach because the algorithm was trained by humans 😏 you know exactly what I am saying, lol

The fact that you made this video says a lot about you as a person.......beautiful with a beautiful heart! This is what I'm here for. Yes it's nice to have eyes on what you're putting out into the KZbin world but what matters more is how you feel while you're creating content and how it may touch someone else. My channel is tiny with hardly any engagement BUUUUUT I'm having fun! I'm learning, creating, and challenging myself and it feels good! I've had my channel for 12 years and was cranking out content in the past but stepped away for a while, a long while, years and years in fact. I got to a point in the past where I was too focused on all that you talked about in your video. It killed the joy for me. I think I needed this crazy long break so that I could come back with a new outlook and enjoyment for the act of just creating and sharing, simple as that.

Thank you for this. I needed to hear this. I fell in this same trap. Trying to get more views and monetized quicker and then I realized I started creating content for views instead of what I like. My channel may be a little harder to get monetized because it’s about teaching xrays so I feel that a lot of people may not tune in so I started adding other things to my channel. Now I’m just going back to my radiology content, and not focusing on the views so much.
