The guy who was going to sell it to you for $3800 complained to the manufacture about Walmart selling them for $3250 in that the manufacture had MAP pricing on the item. “Steel is steel” Ok, I can dispel this theory easily. I worked as a fabricator in a steel supply yard for 5 years. The company usually purchase USA/Canada or SSAB German or Swiss steel. Average price at the time was $0.80 a lb One day a load of Chinese steel came in, it was $0.40 a lb. It look just like the USA steel we had on the ground, all the certification stated it was “A36” structural steel. In a matter of 2 weeks it rusted up like it had been on the ocean floor for 10 years. When I cut it on the plasma table it stunk like a dumpster fire. The steel was full of contaminants, the plasma arch would splatter like there was air pockets. The owner of the company came down to the shop- look at the head of operations and said “get this dog shit off my fucking property and make sure it’s all scrapped-“ Turn out Chinese and Russian steel almost never meets certification. They just pull out the stamp for what ever grade you’re looking to buy and suddenly it’s “a36” or “AR500” So no- Chinese steel is not same/same.

I have a chinese 1 post lift for 6 years now. I would not recommending getting one. We use ist about once a week and many issues started showing up. It was not welded straight, the material is not strong enough on some parts, parts would bend more than on other lifts, the lockout would jam from time to time, there is too much play in many parts and it would hang down if you get to the 5000pounds they advertise. I would get a lift made in Italy next time.

You'd better lag bolt those to the floor before someone gets injured. One day, that metal will deflect and when they do those unsecured posts will kick out and you'll have a catastrophic failure. Remember that load rating is subjective, unless proven by an actual testing agency. Any manufacturer can claim load ratings, based on the numbers that their designers and engineers crunch, but those are mostly SWAGs. They'll claim things are MIL-spec or meet certain operational characteristics, but those are subjective (and often made up) and not really policed by any authority--it's whatever the manufacturer wants to claim. In addition, does that load rating also include at least a 50% overload window to account for accidentally placing a vehicle too heavy on it or if there is some type of seismic event or load-shifting shock?

Steel is still yes , however hydraulics , electronics , and wells are never equal . When it comes to safety and financial protection ( not dropping a Ferrari on a Porsche ) …. I’d pay the extra for quality

there's basically no room in the price for extra quality though with buying the same lifts from an us vendor for 3800 or whatever, once you factor in that they have to be their warranty as well etc. it's just buying the same product with insurance basically. now if he went for drastically more expensive lifts that's a bit different.

You got a forklift? Why didn't you rent a straight truck and pick them up from wherever they unloaded the container?

My old boss had some big expensive equipment and he used the same logic. If it was on wheels it's easy to steal if it's big and heavy and not on wheels it's probably safe.

You got ripped off on the final mile. Been in forwarding for years, even with 16% profit on my end, I still end up lower... shenanigans.
