I currently have a job as a web developer. I went in knowing literally bare minimum PHP, HTML, and JS. I have a CS degree and never got any internships, and my only work experience was fast food. I was so nervous to start because my supervisor had 15+ years of web dev, marketing, and UI experience. He literally designed and built apps for foreign governments. But he turned out to be a super cool guy, who really enjoys sharing his experience with me. So, for those of you that have that feeling of "I literally know nothing" when going to a new job/internship, don't sweat it. A huge part of the job is learning! There are junior and senior positions for a reason lol

The moment you mentioned about npm install and packagelock.json things, yea it's literally happened in my current first two weeks of internship. Not gonna lie, I literally just nervous for knowing nothing and trying to learn as much as I can just to not being a useless one in a team, but relearn basic things I will use in my intern job while communicate once I am clueless. the key is to stay positive and learn as much as you can, hope the other do well in your internship ^^

hey man new subscriber here, love your videos! I am also starting as a Jr. Software Engineer next week also on January 24th and I'm extremely nervous. Self-doubts, Impostor syndrome, and anxieties are strong. Like you, I also took up some basic CRUD apps from youtube and I thought those skills were enough and that I could handle some work now. Knowing that those are not enough just intensifies the anxiety, but as you said, you learn on the job and I believe it's just a matter of how fast you learn while at it. I assume most companies or the Senior Engineers do not expect us Juniors to enter a company knowing a lot already. I'm really lucky to have been accepted at this company (kinda my dream company) and my only fear is not making the role and possibly being fired lol. Sorry if this post is all over the place i guess i just wanted to rant and found the perfect video to do so. Wish us luck Frying Pan, I hope we make it!

Lol and here I am still learning one of the most useless languages: Pascal. After I finish my first semester, I want to try learning a new language by myself. Which one would you reccomend me?
@Ia-jh3re3 жыл бұрын
Learn whatever language is the main one for your university. If it's java or c++ or another focus on that as it will help you out later on when it comes to exams/coursework. If you're learning unpopular languages like pascal however then learn a language that will allow you to learn the fundamentals of programming really well. My picks would be java/c++ as not only are they really popular but they will allow you to learn the fundamentals really well. Plus when you eventually go on to learn other languages such as python/javascript you will find them easy when compared to java/c++.
